::Mom Rant::
I went to see Knocked Up on Saturday night. The movie was at 10pm and surprisingly had quite a few people in it, despite the movie not being a new release. I had heard from some friends that it was somewhat crude, so I was expecting it to be similar to American Pie and those sorts of movies. It definitely was. The humor was mostly sexual and they dropped the "F" bomb regularly. There was a lot of drug use as well (marijuana). None of this bothered me in the slightest until I noticed a family with their 4 year old daughter with them (guessing on the age)! Ok, here's the part where if you would have taken *your* child to this movie, you may want to stop reading.
WTF are people thinking? How selfish is it to drag a child along to a 10pm movie that has nothing good in it for them, because what? you couldn't get a sitter? God forbid you stay home! This little girl saw sex, bongs, and heard every bad word imaginable. Unless she was both blind and deaf, in which case I would still say it was selfish to make her sit there. *sigh*
When DH and I went to see Wedding Crashers, the same thing happened. A mother and small child sat in front of us. I spent most the movie cringing, instead of laughing. I could see how one person (the mother who brought the child to Wedding Crashers) could be stupid enough to do it, but to see a whole group, endorsing the fact that this little girl was watching Knocked Up? I can't believe it.
Tell me, is it that people think they're too small to understand? I know my brother and my cousin have taken their infants to movies like that, assuming they couldn't understand anything, but 4 years old? Gimme a break! And I know I might be too uptight and on the other end of the spectrum but frankly, when I was pregnant, I no longer allowed DH to use certain words around me. They might not understand it, but isn't it being "banked" somewhere? I don't know.
People who know me know that I am pretty tolerant of most things and I try so hard not to be judgmental, but the one thing I get all worked up about is lazy parenting. This includes not disciplining as well. It includes all the asshats who buckle their own GD seat belts, but let the kids bounce around unbuckled. It includes parents who smoke within feet of a child with no ventilation around.
Am I out of line? Eh, maybe you shouldn't answer that. I hope nobody has been offended by my rant, but I needed to get it out. And FTR, as a parent, I know we all do selfish things at times, so I'm not trying to say we're supposed to be perfect. I guess I just try to refrain from conscious choices that have negative effects on our kids. I can even see walking into a movie, hoping it will be ok, but for Cod's sake, walk back out when it crosses a line.
So, anyone else have any rants they'd like to share?

Umm...*yawn* - Updated!
Ok, so the sleep over went pretty well. I got to the house in time to go to dinner. We went to Johnny Carino's (which was good - do you have one?). After that, we went back to the house and just hung out. My friend asked me whether I wanted to sleep with her, or with my DD, in another bed. I chose DD. My (very demanding, but I'll save more on her for later) friend told me in the morning that I chose wrong, and therefore, still owe her a sleepover. She's an odd one. She has begged me forever to spend the night when I go over to her house, but I never have. I'm just not comfortable in other people's beds and would prefer my own house. How about you?
My friend (Jenn) has a family bedroom. They all sleep in there, every night. The 11 year old daughter sleeps with the mom, the toddler sleeps on a bed right next to the King bed, and the dad apparently sleeps in the "bonus room" part of the bedroom where they have yet another bed. What's your take on all this? I find it odd that the husband and wife don't sleep together, but I guess they haven't since the 11 year old was born.
The next day my friend wanted to go a thrift store that was having a big sale. She of course bought only sale items and spent $30, while *I* spent almost $60 including three pairs of shoes, a purse, a candle stick and some clothes for DD.
She insisted we go out without showering or primping. I was completely out of my comfort zone, but I did it anyways. I have a reputation amongst my friends as being uptight and "girly" so I was really making an effort. She didn't even have an iron for me to use! :o
When we got back to her house, the girls went swimming and we just hung out for a while, talking. We didn't end up leaving her house until after 9pm. Late last night I realized I had a 7:30 doctors appointment this morning! I think I got about 3 hours sleep last night. *yawn*
~~~~~~~~~~
Nothing new to report about my brother. I have no idea how they are still together, but apparently she is really making an effort. This is the first time in her life that she felt someone was not completely smitten with her, and she is taking it on as a challenge, I guess. *shrug*
We'll see how long this works.
Ok, I think I'm going to go lie down for a while. I'm freakin exhausted!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have an update, but it's not written yet and I only have 5 hours until I need to get up. And I didn't sleep last night, so I should try to get a couple hours sleep before anything else.
I'll come back later during the day and try to get the update up.
And FTR, (in case anyone is keeping track) DB is still married. ;-)

6 randoms
2. My DD almost started crying today when I told her it was up to her to clean the mess her cat left on her bed (hairball nastiness). I was trying to clean the kitchen and got so frustrated by her saying she "couldn't" do it, I told her to go write a poem about it. *snort* I have never done that before and she looked at me like I was insane. At any rate, she left it open in Word and this is what she has so far:
Smokey threw up on my bed, and I can't get it out of my head.
Mom wants me to clean it up, but I'd rather keep a pet spider in a cup.
I'll do the dishes year after year, I'll rub Mom from her feet to her ears.
Cleaning this would be crossing a line, I am so mad at that dumb feline.
3. Anyone else watch Making the Band 4? I got hooked on it while they were running a marathon of it this weekend. Good stuff. Actually, I'm quite surprised I like it, as it is not my kind of music and I'm not a big P. Diddy fan.
4. DD and I are going to our first joint sleep over this week. It's funny really because she was invited by my friend's DD, but Jess doesn't like her very much and begged me to go, too. I feel silly doing it, but it will make both my friend and her DD happy, so...*shrug*
5. As of 11pm tonight, my brother and his wife are still together. I'll continue to keep you posted.
6. I would really like it if MTW added a "?" on the end of his blog post. :)
good freakin' grief
I was quite upset (understatement) to find out he was giving her another chance. She begged him, saying she loved him and would change. She took full responsibility for everything, admitting everything he pointed out to her. By the next day, she was angry at him for "only noticing the bad things about her". She also said he was a bad person and he was narcissistic if he thought he could do better than her. (ha!)
I knew it was only a matter of time until she would have another blow up and he would then feel justified in leaving her. So today, she not only went off on him verbally, she also physically tried to prevent him from walking out of the fight by grabbing and ripping his shirt. She left a very defined (four finger) scratch down the back of his neck. He was done. Finally!
But no. She begged and pleaded and again took all responsibility. She promised to change. I talked to him tonight, and he seems to believe she *won't* change, but feels if he gives her this "last chance", he'll then feel guiltless when he walks away. *sigh*
I don't know what to think, or who to be angry with. My brother told me he no longer loves her, he believes she is bi-polar (though she's been tested at least 4 times and says she's not) and he feels sorry for her. Part of his reason for taking her back tonight was because her cousin (pictured on the far left in the "Plastics" pic several posts below) tried to kill herself yesterday, and she has been understandably upset over that. He thinks he's showing compassion.
Part of the problem is that she can tell his feelings have changed towards her and she wants him to confirm (or deny) it, but he won't. Which leads me to this question:
If you fell out of love with your spouse, would it be better to tell him/her how you feel and end things quickly so that you could both move on, or would you keep quiet and let the relationship die slowly? In the first case it would be more hurtful to your spouse's ego, but it would get things over with quickly and you could both move on. In the second case, there would be more turmoil, but the spouse would be making the decision that they were sick of you and wouldn't suffer that hit to their ego... I just can't decide. I think it depends on each case. In my brother's, I think he should end it quickly so they could both move on. What do you think?

On another note, looks like the Seattle peep meet was a blast! I'm super jealous, but also so happy for all who got to attend. Can't wait for more details and pictures! :)

PMS, anyone?
So for those that suffer from PMS, tell me about it. Do you get emotional? Headaches? Bitchiness? For how long in advance?
I get a little weepy and headaches, but usually not the bitchiness. My mother always turned into a major beyotch for at least a week beforehand. We all dreaded it. The funny thing for me is, I usually don't consider it could be PMS until after the period starts, and then it hits me that THAT was why I was acting weird.

Weekend Update
I went to the reception that night and I'm not sure whether I would say it went well or not. I did not see my brother or his wife at all, but I did hear he got angry when she aggressively smashed cake in his face. Personally, I've never liked that tradition. If both people agree beforehand, I guess it's their own business, but in this case, he let her know how he felt, and she did it anyways. My grandmother got all upset at DB's wife and my dad was all upset at DB for making a scene. He said he should have sucked it up and laughed it off.
What about you? Are you for it or against it?
I was stressed because I had family from both sides, and friends, who didn't know anyone else. I was trying to visit with everyone and make them feel comfortable. I ended up staying there until 1am with my mother and two people who were hired, and we cleaned the whole thing. I worked my ass off. I felt like I should, since it was my brother's thing and I didn't do anything to set up.
On Sunday, I was invited to go to a lake with some friends. I didn't leave until quite late and I took DS with me, since DD was at my parent's house. By the time I got to the "lake", my friends were ready to leave. And not only that, but it wasn't even a lake, it was a river(ish) kinda thing. So I basically drove for over an hour, to turn around and drive back. I went to their house for dinner. Didn't get home tonight until after 11:30pm.
Oh, I had a question I wanted to ask everyone. Do you have a song that every time you hear, makes you pause? Something that stirs you inside, for whatever reason? I was in the middle of having a group photo taken when mine came on. Gah! What an awkward smile I had!
Here are some of the pics I got this weekend:

Busy times
The fourth was nice. I went to my parents house and let the kids swim. My grandmother (one of the visiting relatives) came over with my uncle Lee, who I don't know too well, but got to know better after dinner. It was nice. My older brother and his (high maintenance) wife also stayed for the whole thing, so that was a pleasant surprise. Overall, a nice time.
I didn't read the thread on OT, but what did YOU all do? Do you do fireworks? I know you wouldn't have celebrated July 4th in Canada, but are fireworks legal there?
As for my last post, let's just say that I am dreading the fact that my children are reaching puberty. I am dreading the first realization that one or both *might* be aware of masturbation. I actually had a talk with DS recently and asked him point blank if he knew what it was. I could tell by the look on his face that he had not heard the term before, and we moved onto another subject before he asked. It was a talk about puberty, and body changes, and what to expect. I asked him first if he would prefer DH to talk to him, but he said he was fine with me. He is still very emotionally and physically immature (though every girl he sees now is "hot"). He has not had exposure to many other boys, so I would not be at all surprised if he hadn't learned anything yet.
At any rate, I'm just wondering, when do kids start doing it? Will I know? I'd rather not, of course, but if my son doesn't hide it well enough? Am I supposed to say something? Ack. This whole subject is uncomfortable.

(ok, I DO actually have something in mind regarding this, but I kinda wanted to see what kind of comments I'd get, first)

Have you ever...
- wondered if you really loved someone?
- fell out of love?
- fell back into love with someone?
- tangibly felt your love for someone grow?
I'm also wondering about people we "unconditionally" love. Can those change? Will you always love your child, or mother, no matter what? Will they love you no matter what? What if you question everything, because for whatever reason, you simply don't trust your answers? How can someone ever be *really* sure about this stuff?
And if this is all too deep for a Friday, tell me this; is it true that one can now wear brown and black, together? I thought that was a fashion faux paus!?

Friday Night Hell (long story)
Which begs the question: toe cleavage, yes or no? I think not.
So I drove all the way back to the store (which took me 30 minutes each way) and got the last pair they had. Fortunately, they were good. :)
That evening, I curled my hair and got ready. I had bought new jewelry to wear and was almost excited about going. My brother had called me at one point and asked if I could maybe drive his wife to the place, since he was going to bring the guys and meet up with us later. I called them right before it was time to go but did not get an answer. Finally, my mom called me and said that my brother's friend Clint had been waiting at the house for 40 minutes to get my DB, but he finally told him to just go on his own. Something was up. *sigh*
My friends and I decided to just head to the restaurant because we knew there were reservations there, and did not want to stand up Cheryl's friends, even though we are not at all close with them. We were there at 8:30. By 9:30, we decided to go sit down and start without the "bachelorette". The guys were calling us periodically for updates on my brothers whereabouts. They were all pretty pissed because they'd been waiting for him since 6:30.
We finally received word that the new married couple would be coming straight to the place the girls were at, and that the boys should meet him there. Half the guys just left, completely disgusted by the fact that they'd been dissed by their friend. Their wives (my friends) were also pretty pissed about it.
Cheryl's friends readily acknowledged that this was the type of stunt that she regularly pulls. Her reason for being so late was something between being upset about her uncle's death (a few weeks ago) to 'not feeling well'. I am not sure why my brother didn't just leave her high-maintenance ass at home, but whatever.
Most the women were fine and were just carrying on without the guest of honor, but at one point, my friend Jenn decided to go off on ME about my brother's rudeness. A couple friends were asking her to please stop it, and that it was inappropriate. I was beyond pissed and sat there across from her, avoiding eye contact, and not saying anything for a while. Finally she said to me that we needed to go "have a talk" and to please go with her. I shot back at her saying, "if you want to tell me what an asshole my brother is again, that's ok, I heard you the first time". She was shocked by that, as I don't usually get that snarky, but then she excused herself and went to the bathroom and cried.
Oh! And one of the bride's "friends" completely bashed her to me saying how she will leave my brother within a year because she is mental and cannot commit. She had lots to say about her, and it was all bad. I finally asked her to stop and said I wanted to form my own opinion about her.
So far, the evening sucked ass!
When the guys and my brother and Cheryl arrived, things got worse. One of the guys was fighting with his wife Ashley who was seated next to me and basically the only person I was talking to. She looked like she was going to cry the rest of the time. At some point, dinner was over and it was time to get to the 'Club' part of the place. To my surprise, most my friends wanted to go in and dance. They all had partners and were in pretty good moods by then. I'm sure the drinking helped. Since I was *not* drinking, I was the token party pooper, I guess. *shrug*
I have to admit, I'd never been to a place like this before. You have to check the link and look at the pictures of the place. I spent the evening in the place titled "decadent outdoor lounging". It's the last pic in the slideshow, I think. Anyhow, I was completely out of my comfort zone and wanted to leave. I sat there people watching for a long time, just playing with my cell phone. I met two men, one who was "looking for his soul mate". I asked him if he thought he was going to meet her there. *snort* It was ridiculous. The other guy was named Carmel, like the city, not the candy. He was wearing a lavender fedora, I believe.
At any rate, by about 1am I met up with my group. I'll add a pic of us. I did not realize I had my camera until the very end, and felt like an idiot. I would have loved to get a group shot of everyone. I would have loved to show you the former model who is now only 39 but because of all the work she's had, looks somewhere between 35-50. Very strange. And every single woman that was friends with Cheryl had fake boobs, lol! Is it really that common now?
I found out later that my brother was kicked out because he was wearing tennis shoes. He protested because his were black and other people there were wearing white tennis shoes. How sad for him. *smirk*
Then his wife stumbled and stepped into broken glass, so they spent the rest of the night in the ER. I saw her injury the next night and almost laughed. It was a scratch on her toe. Didn't even need a band-aid!
So that was my wonderful night. I eventually made up with Jennifer. In this pic, it's (from left to right) Krissi, Alex, me and Justin.

The Plastics
I went to Target (and Kohl's, and Mervyn's and Famous Footwear) tonight to get some new shoes for it. The heels I love are too big for me and it's annoying to walk in them. I did see jewelry that looked promising though, there was some colored stuff with gold accents, and thought maybe I needed a big splash of color. What do you think? What color would pick? I thought the purple (plum) colors were pretty with the gold.
P.S. to Jen, I added the two other pics. The "smiling" one of me will be removed shortly. And after looking at it again, I guess it's not a huge smile or anything, but I hate the cheeky look. *sigh* (it's the picture with another Jenn)
P.S.S. Whenever I go to dictionary.com and type a word in, the first ad on the page says, "are you stupid?". I feel insecure every single time I see it, as if it's trying to tell me I spelled the word wrong. MM <--idiot?

Speaking of family drama...
Umm, there's no rule about being constantly depressing in blogland is there? Because I want to stick around, but this is getting ridiculous. So...DB has been in Tahoe since Saturday night, but called my mom today and basically asked if he and his new bride could live with my parents while they "save money". They had rented a place out in the country already that was a fantastic (almost unheard of) deal, but they are letting it go now. Am I wrong to be pissed that they want to mooch off my parents? Ugh. This whole thing makes me sick, and it makes me sicker because I HATE being judgmental. So it goes against everything in me to be mad at him for something that is *his right* to do. Of course, my parents have the "right" to say no to him, too. But how likely is that? I'll let you know later in the day when I find out...
And since I'm here ranting *grin* I'll just get it all out now. Another thing I hate? I hate parents who can not and will not accept that their children are flawed. I hate it when the parents are passive aggressive, but completely slink away when you invite them to have an adult conversation. Taking your child's side is a wonderful thing, when warranted, but frankly, it's not always the right thing to do. And before you do it, perhaps trying a tiny bit to make sure you have facts straight would be helpful?
This all comes from a mom who let her daughter miss the promotion party because she insisted she had been "uninvited". When I provided proof that she had NOT been uninvited (and in fact, encouraged to come) she glossed over it (well, completely ignored it, actually) and tried to hint that it was some other reason that was everyone else's fault, and not her precious Maddi's. *groan* Poor kid. I finally wrote, " I am not sure what you are implying here, but as the adults, I prefer a direct approach. If you'd like to share more, feel free to do so." she has not responded. After hearing another mom talk about her, I guess this is her M.O. It's too bad because I really like her daughter a lot.
FTR, when I approached my DD with all this, I went into it completely undecided as to what her level of guilt was. I try really hard not to assume my children are above reproach. None of them are, IMO. Fortunately, Jess is a good girl and until now, had never been accused of anything like this, so it was not hard to understand what had happened. In the end, nobody was at fault except the girl's mother. She should have stepped up and taught her DD how to handle misunderstandings.
So a big fat F U to the mom who is socially retarding her brilliant child by not teaching her communication or coping skills. She'll probably be very successful when she grows up, but will she have any friends? *sigh*
P.S. Please forgive this entry for it's scatter-brained presentation. I've edited several times and even removed an entire tirade about people who are judgmental and gossip. Maybe another day...nah, who needs more of that right now?
P.S.S. How about I share a couple of pics to make my blog not so "blah" right now...
I love this one of Jess, taken after she read whatever my dad wrote in her graduation card.

Finally, the promotion swim party. Some of the kids are hiding in the hot tub and not pictured. There were not many kids there, but chaperoning pre-teens was a hard job! Oh, and notice the ground all wet? That's because my DB overfilled the pool that morning, *snort*!

Oh the drama! (long post ahead)
Anyhow, she decides that July 7th is too soon and perhaps they should wait until January. Well, all day on Saturday I wanted to check on my brother, knowing he would probably be feeling pretty down about this, but I held back because I didn't want to push him. I found out from my mom that his DF was with him and the kids for most the day, just hanging out. So I was kinda confused...my dad thought she was trying to back out, as did I, really. But whatever. I was glad they were together. I did not hear anything else until late that night when my mom called me and said my dad was angry because DB was not home and it was after 11pm (he had his kids for the weekend, which is why it was upsetting to my dad). I sorta defended DB by saying that all parents have kept kids out late and depending on what they are doing, it doesn't kill them. Mine were out until midnight when we went to Disneyland, and they were only barely 5.
Moving on...around Midnight, I get a text message from my brother. It says, "If mom and dad get worried, tell them I am ok but I won't be back until Monday." He follows that with, "Tell them I did what I had to do."
I immediately texted him back with, "So you're eloping?" halfway joking, the other half seriously alarmed. He writes back that "yes, we are." He then asks me not to tell them until the next day. *sigh* So I know my mom is not sleeping because she has no idea where he is, or where his kids are. Let's just skip over the fact that he is 33 years old and my parents are acting like he's a child.
So, I did as he asked, and kept it to myself until this morning. I didn't sleep much, knowing that this was not going to go over well with the family. Oh, and his kids had been dropped off at his former MIL's house somewhere along the way.
I finally told my mom and she reacted pretty calmly, and not that surprised. Not surprised only because this kind of move is typical for my idiotic DB, whom I adore and love unconditionally, of course. I have no idea how Cheryl's valid concerns from the day before had all dissipated, but somehow, they had. They met in April, remember. She lost her uncle, and has been so involved in that family tragedy and planning her wedding, that none of us, including his children, really know her that well. They did come to my kids promotion lunch on Thursday and I noticed she not only ordered several strong drinks, but she was unhappy with two of them and sent them back. That's fine I guess, but not typical of my family's behaviour when we go out.
So in summation, WTF? Are they as stupid as I fear? To top it all off, I found out today that she did not want him telling anyone and he told me secretly. So after telling my mom, who obviously told my dad, who reacted by calling DB's DW's mom *rolls eyes*, it came out to her (Cheryl) that *I* was how they all found out. She was less than happy, and was confused as to how I knew. DB did not admit that he told me himself, so now I look like a big mouthed busybody, which really pisses me off. Should I tell her the truth and cause a problem in their already *not looking so great marriage* or take the hit and let her get over it? *sigh*
All of this after some unusual drama at the kids swim party on Friday. I'll have to vent about that one later in the week.
The one positive note? At least their wedding date is on the 10th and not the 9th.
MM <--serious aversions to the number 9

Is it Blonde, or Blond?
5. Threadjacking. Hello, can you say rude?
4. Blaming crap on other people. Stand up and admit it when you've done something childish, or embarrassing.
3. Bad drivers. If you're driving, you should know where you're going. Getting lost is a PITA and wastes my time, when I get stuck behind you.
2. Not welcoming newbies. C'mon people, when a new person pops onto OT, say hello, welcome them, hell, ask them to start a blog. It's just plain clique-ish not to. We should assume they are good, quality people worth our time and not waste one minute sizing them up. It's not fair to them. /rant
1. *pooting* Very unladylike. Should never be done in the presence of other people, ever! I abhor bodily function humor, and find it tasteless. Let's grow up already!

Important Stuff
2. When I make this typo --> "ANd", it really bugs me. I mean, really bugs me. A lot. Something about it looks annoying. Ugh. I don't even want to leave it there.
3. Speaking of saying rude things, I said something rude today to my brother, and it caused a fight. We never fight. It sucked. What I said? Well, while deciding who to invite for my parents tiny anniversary dinner, he said he wanted to invite his soon-to-be in-laws. I said no because they are not close with my parents and have never been. I then added that "if his girlfriend isn't grown up enough to understand that, it's her problem". He did not like that. But, I happen to know that that is why he wanted to invite them, since she would take offense if we didn't. Too effing bad. We are having their kids, (myself and two brothers) our spouses, and two other couples. Not enough people to slyly add in two more who are not close to them, IMHO. Was I out of line?
4. One of my new favorite songs is "Not Big", by Lily Allen. Here is the song (I could only find it on youtube because I suck at doing the song link thing. The "slideshow" is cheesy (beyond cheesy, really. Prolly should only listen, and not watch it, lol), but I do like the song and lyrics. :) Oh, here are the lyrics, too. For the heck of it, I'll add the link to her Smile video, which is more popular right now. Here it is. Must be awful to be one of her exes, LOL!
5. *smooches* everyone! <--very important!

8 Randoms
1. I saw a wild brown bear this weekend. It was rummaging for food on the side of a mountain road. I now realize my parents were always lying to me when they said bears don't come out during the day. It was 2:30pm.
2. On the same road, I saw a car accident. A truck drove off the road and went down a deep ravine. Fortunately, a large boulder stopped it from crashing into the river. Everyone appeared to be ok.
3. I spent the night in the most disgusting "lodge" I could ever imagine. The small town I went to was all booked up, and it was the only place left. My dad reserved it, so I felt obligated to stay there. I barely slept and could not even shower there. Nothing was newer than 35 years old. Plus I saw two spiders in the room. Even the "nicer" place is somewhere I would never have wanted to stay in, but our relatives house where we normally stay was hosting a wedding, and we assumed they'd be full.
4. My brothers fiance is what inspired the "rude comment" question in the last post. They were out to dinner and the couple at the next table had a crying baby. The people were not doing anything to hush the baby, and I guess she kept looking over at them. The dad finally smiled and said, "sorry about the crying" and "Cheryl" said back, "it's ok, you're just ruining our dinner!". {insert gaping mouth} I actually understand how annoying it must have been, and I know she just lost a family member (the motorcycle rider I blogged about), but still, her comment was shocking and just plain rude. So many other ways to deal with it. What do you think?
5. These randoms are taking way longer than I expected.
6. The day after my cousin's wedding, she came back to her parents house to say goodbye before leaving for the honeymoon. Because the bride and groom had both "saved themselves" for marriage, there were some childish comments (made mostly by the bride's younger sister) involving how she was acting funny, (ok, walking funny) or whatever. By the time the bride came into the house, I had composed myself so as to act normal, and not make her feel uncomfortable. The first thing out of the newlywed's mouth? "Man, I got ATE last night!". Then she paused and added, "by mosquitoes". I have no idea if she knows how hard it was for me not to laugh. I just totally agreed with her and pretended not to notice how it could have been interpreted.
7. I got two mosquito bites at the wedding. :)
8. I wish this week was over already. Every day is going to be busy in preparation of my kids promotion from 6th grade. Might not be commenting much, but I will be reading!

Exhausted
I could do a list of things I have to get done this week (Holy Carp! The week's almost over!) but I won't bore you with any of that. Suffice it to say, I've been busy. And negligent of my blog. And of my blog friends. I will do better starting, um...next week? Wait no, that's the kids last week of school and we have their promotion and party to plan,..so sometime after that and before my brother's wedding, I will be here more. And at your blogs more.
Now for my questions:
What is the worst/rudest thing you've ever said to someone who was annoying you in public?
and...
What is your favorite wedding memory (not including your own)?

Tuesday Randoms (and a PSA)
2. I have been busy doing my online traffic school. I think I should have just done a class in person, because it's hard to concentrate (for me) on the online one.
3. My brother cancelled his wedding. Not the marriage, just the actual wedding. Now they want to elope, and very soon. I guess they can always get to know each other after they're married. /sarcasm
4. My DD told her teacher that I said he looked like Tom Selleck. Is that definitely a compliment? Should I be embarrassed? *blush*
5. I am really rooting for Blake to win American Idol, because I just don't care for Jordin, though I think they are pimping her.
::PSA:: Doing cartwheels after the age of 30 (and after years of *not* doing them) can really eff up an already effed up shoulder. On the upside, it shuts up kids who are challenging you and don't believe you can do them.

Ugh. Was going to update with something light but instead I'll remind any motorcycle riders to NOT EFFING RIDE MOTORCYCLES! A friend was dragged to his death tonight, after not being seen and hitting a car. His young (20 something) daughter witnessed the whole thing from her car, as she followed him. Apparently it was quite gruesome. *sigh* This will also affect my brother's wedding date, since it is his fiance's uncle who died. The man's daughter was to be in the wedding. Poor family.

Glow's Questions
I would offer, but he would refuse.
2. If you had to eliminate one state from the United States, which one would it be?
Kentucky. I hate the Jerry Springer show and that's where they come from, right?
3. If Spiderman and Superman were forced to fight to the death, who would win? Why?
Superman. I *heart* Supes.
4. Sawyer, Jack or Sayid?
Sawyer - no contest <--Glow's answer was perfect
5. Mohinder, Nathan or Peter?
I'll say Peter since I trust Glow on this one. I have no idea who these people are.
6. For the next hour you have to listen to one song on repeat. What song is it?
Make out Club by Gym Class Heroes or
Numb, by Linkin Park
7. What is your favorite movie? Why?
I really liked Crash. It made me think for days afterward, which is unusual for movies to do. I also consider Love Actually and Ladyhawke among my favorites.
8. Who is your favorite actor/actress?
I love Edward Burns and Drew Barrymore.
9. Avril Lavigne. Yes or no?
Eh, don't care.
10. Do you have a job or a career?
Neither. Stay at home mom, currently. Is that a job?
11. Would you move out of state for a job?
No. My family is here. On second thought, yes. ;-)
12. Have any sharks been jumped by American Idol?
I don't think about stuff like that. I enjoy the show or I don't, but I don't like to analyze them too much.
13. Have you ever gone to a concert by yourself? If so, would you do it again? If not, would you?
Not a chance. I hesitate to go *with* someone, much less alone. I *would* sit in a piano bar (on a ship) by myself though.
14. Did your mom and/or dad make you do chores? If so, what were they?
Not sure if they made me, but I did quite a few. In fact, by a certain age, I did almost all the chores (such as cooking and cleaning). The outside stuff was for the boys.
15. Would you go to a sex toy party with your mom?
Not anymore, but once upon a time...
16. If you were to have a sex toy party, would you invite your boss?
I had a crush on my old boss, so no. Or yes. Hmmm.
17. How big is too big?
*snort* Cannot answer this.
18. What is your favorite reality show?
Big Brother, followed by the Bachelor.
19. Do you have a favorite reality show contestant?
Will Kirby *dreamy sigh*
20. Could you whistle that little tune at the beginning of Peter Bjorn and John’s “Young Folks” for me right now?
Yes, if I could whistle or knew the melody.
21. Howard Stern. Yes or no?
Yes.
22. Do you know any local bands that you would like to pimp?
Nope.
23. Name one state you would like to visit that you have not visited.
New York
24. Why would Pink perform on American Idol after adamantly not giving clearance for the contestants perform her songs?
Because she's a celebrity and they are notoriously stupid and anal.
25. Multi-grain, wheat or white?
White, though not often.
26. Carrots dipped in peanut butter?
Eww, no.
27. Do you add extra butter to your popcorn at the movie theater?

28. Do you have a favorite pair of underwear? What do they look like?
Yes, black hipsters.
29. Name one country song that will help convince non-fans that it isn’t all bad.
I'm not a country fan, but I used to love anything by Reba. And if Alan Jackson can't convince you, nothing will. *swoony sigh*
30. What is in the trunk of your car?
Ack! Of course you ask now! At the moment, there is a pretty bra, blue jeans, and a bottle of Goldschlager. I believe there is also a blanket and an umbrella.
31. What is the first thing that comes to your mind when I say Marky Mark?
*swoon* and the movie Fear.
32. Which character from a movie or television show would you be?
I once took an online test that told me I most resembled Jill Taylor (Patricia Richardson's role) from Home Improvement. *shrug* That or Charlotte, from Sex and the City.
33. Who was the last person you hugged?
My son.
34. Have you ever been on a cruise?
Yes.
35. Will I be able to sleep in a tiny closet-sized room on a cruise ship with no windows while constantly worrying and missing my kids?
Yes, the ship will rock you to sleep, and the kids will be fine, I promise.

*procrastinating*
If you could go on one reality TV show, which one would it be and why?
And along with that, is it the one you think you'd be best at, or just one you think would be fun?
I think I might be good at Big Brother, if only I didn't have to be on camera for three months, lol.
Survivor, no way. Can't eat that crap. Or drink the icky water. Too much of a germ phobe to be close to that many dirty people.
TAR is too fast paced for me. I can't even play video games because I get too anxious, so there's no way I could handle that.
According to my kids, I'm not cut out out American Idol, either. *grin*

Grrr!
I listened as the customers behind me complained, and then watched as they started skipping to the check out in front of us. I kept waiting, thinking patience was important. The more I stood there though, and the wal mart cashier never once acknowledged any of the other customers (particularly ME, since I was there the longest and hadn't complained) the more pissed I got. I thought she should have at least looked up and said *something* letting me know how frustrating it must be. Even eye contact can say a lot. She never did. When the woman with the kids clothes was about done, I decided at the last minute to go the other line, because I realized I was so agitated that I didn't have it in me to be nice to the cashier.
I checked out, and when I got home, I immediately called the store. This is the second time I've called and complained about service somewhere lately, and it's weird because it's totally unlike me. Anyhow, I was surprised to hear (from the manager) that they are "not allowed to make a customer leave the line, for fear of embarrassing them". Wow. I can think of a million ways to nicely tell someone they need to go the next line. Anyhow, the manager also said the cashier *should* have acknowledged the waiting customers, though.
*sigh* So I think I got the cashier in trouble. The manager sounded pissed and said she was going to go right then and have a talk with her. I can't tell whether I feel happy or bad about that.
On another note, Survivor did nothing for me this season. I did not care for anyone in the final 3, nor did I care for the person who was voted out 4th (in case someone doesn't want to know yet, I'm leaving names out). I think I only cared about Alex. *dreamy sigh* And Boo cleaned up nicely too, didn't he??

sheesh!
Moving on...
I went to my towns parade last weekend. Not much to see until!... I spotted something! Is it Gus? And who is the imposter banana?? And where was Sophie during all of this? *giggle* *bad Tab*

And finally, this guy. Who is he, you ask? I have no idea. I just thought he was cute. *shrug*
In summation, while I do not generally like bananas, I am completely open to banana chips. I also like my new banana scented suntan lotion. :)
Please, tell me what you love or hate about bananas. Plastic or otherwise.
p.s. if you zoom in on the banana picture, the guy on the left reminds me of George Michael for some reason.

finally!

We found a neat little "Family Park" nearby, and went to check it out. We found some huge rocking horses! Boo shoved a kid off this one, so we could ride it together. She said it was very important that the blue on Sanjana match the blue horse. It was very "Bree" like. *rolls eyes*

Sanjana disappeared on us later, and we searched everywhere for him. We found him here, in the Dippin' Dots freezer. We noticed the words "banana split" and decided maybe this was his idea of a sick joke. Fortunately, he didn't suffer from any freezer burn.

I have a few more pics (as does Boo) that I will post later. :)
All in all, meeting Boo was a blast. We had a good amount of time to talk, and were able to cover each and every one of you. In detail. Much detail. ;-)
I did tell Carey that she was easy, but to be fair, she was! And Carey agreed! She was easy to talk to. We started off right away as if we'd always known each other. I'm hoping I can see her again, someday.
P.S. to Jen ~ Boo tried to kiss me at the end, but I told her about us. She was pretty cool with it. *besa*

Updated for Answer *hyperventilates*
::drumroll::
No.
I don't think I can ever kiss another woman, after having Jen. Well, I didn't "have" her exactly, but you know what I mean. *grin*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I get to meet Boo today! Ohmygosh, what should I wear? What do I say? I'm so excited!!
And!! I got to speak to her while she was at dinner with Carey, Weltek and Michelle, and they all said hi to me! *big goofy smile*
In other (unrelated) news, my older brother is engaged. He's known her for three weeks! :o I have not really met her yet, though I knew her when she was a kid (she's 25 now). Not sure what I think about this. I'm nervous, and will share more later.
For The Office fans, goodness! Was that not an especially hilarious episode last night? I think I'm going to track Jim down and kidnap him. He's too adorable (though about 15 years too young for me)
Ok, wish me luck everyone! I need to figure out how to get where I'm supposed to meet Boo. :)
Red shoes??
At any rate, it made me realize that *I* have some red shoes I've never worn. I dug them out (ok, grabbed them off the shoe shelf) and made an outfit around them. I tried it all on, and paraded it in front of the family, seeking approval. After everyone said it was ok, I decided I just don't have what it takes to wear red shoes. *hangs head* I have only ever worn black, brown or *maybe* off white, depending on the occasion (like at my wedding). I want to wear the red! They are cute strappy sandals, and I had them on with long navy shorts and a red fitted shirt. But when I looked in the mirror, all I could see was the red shoes. Tell me it's ok to wear red shoes please!
Also, tell me, is there anything you can't, or won't wear?? Anything that makes you feel conspicuous? Oooh! Does anyone here have those gold or silver lamé purses or shoes? They are pretty trendy, but again, I can't seem to do it. I need fashion courage! I also can't wear my high heels with shorts or capris. What are your "can'ts"?
edited to add~ the "lam`e" is supposed to have the squiggle, but when I publish, it goes away. *pout*
It's time again, for...
1. Tab is an Idiot
2. How Tab got a black eye
3. Common Household Accidents
4. What NOT to do right before going to a wedding reception
OR, my personal favorite;
5. Don't drop the effing VCR on your face
*sigh* I guess since my finger was doing better, it makes sense I would need a new injury to gripe about. So, for months now I've been anticipating this wedding reception...and there I was, at the last minute, wrapping the gift when I realized I needed a bow. So I go in my room where I have this shoe box with ribbon and whatnot in it, which is right next to the dresser. On top the dresser is the T.V. On top the T.V. is the VCR. The cord is apparently right near the shoe box of ribbons. My foot was apparently right near the cord. *idiot*
So I step on the cord, and as I'm bent over picking up the shoe box, the VCR comes falling off the dresser. As I glanced up, I noticed nothing. A few seconds later, I noticed intense pain and throbbing, on my left eye. The VCR got me right in the eye. It literally took me several moments to digest what had happened. Poor DS was in the room and started panicking...thinking I was hurt badly. I was in total shock, and can only imagine it felt exactly like being punched in the face (eye).
I immediately iced it, but the swelling started right away. I covered the bruising with make up, and have to admit, it wasn't as bad looking as it could have been. So...that's the story. What title was better?
Back!
Well, Blogger finally forced me to switch. If only it had the same power over HD. *grin*
As a result of switching over, I had a few blog problems and due to a shortage of time, I had to pull the blog until I worked them out. I'm hoping if you are reading this, it means it's all fixed. :)
I'm still typing minus my left index finger, which is still numb and painful, but otherwise healing ok. I can't wait to have all my fingers functioning again.
And now,....For my debut New Blogger Post, I present:
MM's Interview, by HD
1. What is your favorite Christmas memory or tradition?
Driving around looking at the lights. We usually went to the movies on Christmas day, too. It was a day we all knew we'd be together, so that's what I remember the most.
2. If I invite you to a dinner party, what do you want me to serve?
I want whatever you make to impress your dates, of course! And wine. Lots of wine (for you). And I'll bring dessert. ;-)
3. What kind of exotic pet would you actually consider letting your kids adopt?
Well, ferrets are illegal here, so that would have to count, I guess. Other than that, I would say certain (smaller) wild cats would be a consideration. Or a Sasquatch. But only a female.
4. If we ran "The Amazing Race" together and won a leg, what kind of trip should we receive from the Travelocity gnome?
If it were you and I? I would want to go to Temptation Island, where I might have a shot at getting you. *grin* Seriously, I'd want to go (selfishly) somewhere you've already been, so you could be my tour guide, and teach me all the history you undoubtedly know.
5. Suppose that your blogland buddies were trading mix tapes. Which three songs would you include on your mix tape to let people see who you are?
There are so many to choose from, but off the top of my head I'll say,
1. In the Deep, by Bird York
2. Fix You, by Coldplay
3. I'm No Angel, by Dido
I'm skeered!
I am also supposed to go to the lab to have some blood taken. I used to not be scared of these simple procedures, but I'm not used to it anymore and I'm dreading it. I became a pro when I was pregnant because I was considered "high risk" due to having twins. Back then, they took my blood every week. Now? Not so much. *sigh*
Courage! I need some courage. Mmmm, liquid courage? If only I wasn't driving myself! LOL. Remember what I did to get my ears pierced last year? Goldschlager and Valium (left over from flying). Slight overreaction, in retrospect.
Medical oddities (and other stuff)
Next oddity? She had an infection (bacterial, I think) in her mouth. The prescription? Sour candy! She needed to make her mouth water as much as possible. We bought her lemon heads, if I remember correctly. She loved telling everyone about that one.
When she was little, she had another medical problem that always scared me to death. When she was startled, or hurt (even DS pulling her hair, kind of hurt), she would get the wind knocked out of her, to the point of turning blue, and her eyes rolling. The very last time it happened, it was the worst case we'd seen, and I had dialed the 9-1- (of 9-1-1) before DH resuscitated her. Lips and fingernails turned blue instantly. She never did it again, thank cod. But it was scary.
What are your experiences with strange medical problems (if you don't mind me asking) ?
P.S. Can someone tell me why my thumb started hurting, and then a few hours later swelled up and felt tingly? It was also hot to the touch. No bites or broken skin to be seen. Next day? Swelling is down, fever is gone, but there is a small bruise right under the thumb pad (where it was swollen). And it still feels sore. :( I think I'm breaking.
P.S.S. Need some quick advice...(this should prolly be it's own post) I have a friend whose DD, who I'll call snottybratface is known for being highly obnoxious and disrespectful. Whenever I see said friend, I a try to be nice to this girl. She is ten years old, and so bad that my kids beg me not to make them go over there with me. *snort* Anyhow, the other day, as we were leaving a Chuckie Cheesish type place, this girl asks me if I want to get wet...I ignored her, assuming she wouldn't dare squirt me with the water bottle she was holding (I was in my car, with the door open). Next thing I know, I'm wet. My side, and a little on my glasses. I was pissed, and shocked. I couldn't believe her nerve. It was obvious I was not happy, and her mom told her to apologize (it was actually more of a suggestion). Instead, snottybratface laughs at me. No, make that *cackles* at me! Smiling in glee at what she had done. Her mother never made her stop. I pretty much left immediately, without another word to either of them. The problem is, I don't know whether to tell her mom why I am avoiding her now. And yes, I'm avoiding her. Disrespectful kids are intolerable, to me. Might sound harsh, but there it is. I can't do it. No fake smiley "it's oks" from me. Actually, to be honest, I *have* done the fake "it's oks" before, but that was in response to verbal disrespect from her. Now I don't want to be around the kid, now that we all know she can do anything and get away with it.
So, this friend will call me at some point, and I don't know whether to say something or not. Everyone knows her kids are terrible, but nobody says anything. Not even sure if there would be a point. How upset would *you* be? And just to be clear, it's not the *action* that upset me so much, it was the blatant disrespect in how she acted afterward. Help?
Presumptuous Flushing
So I was in a bathroom stall last night, when something happened that made me wonder; have you ever had one of the automatic flushing toilets misread you? Then I had to wonder if what *I* was doing was normal. How many people do their "freshening up" in the stall, as opposed to in front of the sink and mirror? See, normally I do that stuff in the privacy of the stall, after hanging my purse on the hook. I don't like brushing my hair in front of other people. Frankly, I don't like *looking* at myself in front of others. I have this fear that they'll see me putting on lipstick (or whatever) and think, "ha! she shouldn't even bother!". I guess it's a pathetic low self-esteem issue I never got past. Anyhow, so I was doing it in the stall, when the toilet assumed I was finished, and flushed. Gah! Now what? Let people wonder what the heck I'm still doing in the bathroom, after the toilet's flushed? I miss the old toilet flushing handles that we push with our foot. *pout*
Don't look, Arkie and HD!
I had DD call DH who was still at work (but should have been off by then) and let him know I needed him. He was with someone, and couldn't leave yet. I was going into shock (I've never had a serious injury like this, and was completely unsure as to how to deal with it). I was sweating, shaking, and starting to panic, assuming I would lose the tip of my finger if it wasn't re-attached soon. I was pretty sure I would not bleed to death, but part of me was afraid I might. Like I said, this was a first for me. Anyhow, my dad came before DH, (we had called him about taking the kids, so they wouldn't have to go to the ER). Just then, DH got home. We went to the ER, where astonishingly, nobody seemed too panicked. Hello!? My finger is falling off, people! *sigh*
I had to wait for over an hour. I even asked the guy if the numb feeling was normal, because I was thinking my finger was slowly dying, from lack of blood flow. By the time I was seen, I was tired, and the bleeding had slowed, but not stopped. The doctor that came in...*dreamy sigh* SO freakin' hot. Movie star good looks. It was ridiculous. So now I was nervous because of him, and couldn't look at him for more than three seconds at a time. He was super nice though. While he numbed the finger (note the swollen appearance of my hand) we talked. Don't ask me what about.
I had two shots in the base of the finger. It hurt. A lot. But it didn't work, so he had to give me two MORE shots (after having the cut irrigated...yuck). I swore a bit during that, because they thought I was numbed, but wasn't. By the time he was ready to stitch me up, I was still not numb. He warned me that the next step would be painful. I had to have the injection on the tip of the finger! OUCH! Hurt like a mofo! It was worse than what I assumed the stitches would have felt like, without the numbing. Anyhow, that was pretty much it. Got home around 1am, I think. The doc said it was unusual that I needed so many injections for it to work on me. I was also almost completely un-numbed by the time I went to bed that night. It was an awful night. Feel free to shower me with {{hugs}} (or gifts). *grin*
p.s. about the midget thing: yes, I kinda knew I couldn't post his picture. I guess that's why I asked. *sigh* He is so stinkin' cute. I *do* kinda know the family, but still, can't post someone else's kid online without permission. Darn it. He's so cute.
New blogger doesn't want me (and other news)
Is it wrong to take pictures of a small person who attends the kids school who I am obsessed with? And is it wrong to share how cute he is, here? Honest answers, please. I love this kid, but I don't want to do something inappropriate.
I tried switching over, for your sakes, but it does not seem to want me. :( For now, I am actually *stuck* with old blogger. Sorry guys!
In other news, this update will take me twice as long to write, as I have 5 stitches in my left index finger. I was going to put a picture up, but decided to let you guys decide whether you want to see it. It's gross, so be forewarned. Cast your vote in a comment. :)
I have a long icky (graphic) story behind it, but simply do not not have the patience to type like this for very long, so I'll wait until it's a little easier. Maybe if we decide on doing the pictures, I'll tell you more about it then.
Also, to end the KFC saga, I thought I would share what happened on Friday. DH went to KFC on his lunch break and noticed the District Manager's truck in the parking lot. He hadn't seen or talked to the guy in almost 10 years, but decided to stop and go inside (instead of the drive-thru). They ended up chatting for a while, when DH had to go to the car for his wallet. When he came back in to order, guess who helped him? Sam, the co-manager! She must have been told who he was and she profusely apologized to him! He said she seemed genuine. Anyhow, I thought it was pretty funny that the same day she gets a "talking to" by the DM, the plaintiffs husband comes in, and is friends with her boss. I bet she was mortified. *giggles*
Ok, I've had to do a zillion corrections while typing, and I am tired, so I'll have to end this update here. Don't forget to vote 'Yes' or 'No' on the icky finger injury pictures.
