It's time again, for...

You Pick The Title!

1. Tab is an Idiot

2. How Tab got a black eye

3. Common Household Accidents

4. What NOT to do right before going to a wedding reception

OR, my personal favorite;

5. Don't drop the effing VCR on your face

*sigh* I guess since my finger was doing better, it makes sense I would need a new injury to gripe about. So, for months now I've been anticipating this wedding reception...and there I was, at the last minute, wrapping the gift when I realized I needed a bow. So I go in my room where I have this shoe box with ribbon and whatnot in it, which is right next to the dresser. On top the dresser is the T.V. On top the T.V. is the VCR. The cord is apparently right near the shoe box of ribbons. My foot was apparently right near the cord. *idiot*

So I step on the cord, and as I'm bent over picking up the shoe box, the VCR comes falling off the dresser. As I glanced up, I noticed nothing. A few seconds later, I noticed intense pain and throbbing, on my left eye. The VCR got me right in the eye. It literally took me several moments to digest what had happened. Poor DS was in the room and started panicking...thinking I was hurt badly. I was in total shock, and can only imagine it felt exactly like being punched in the face (eye).

I immediately iced it, but the swelling started right away. I covered the bruising with make up, and have to admit, it wasn't as bad looking as it could have been. So...that's the story. What title was better?

Back!

Hi guys! I missed you! Umm, did you know I was gone?? ;-)

Well, Blogger finally forced me to switch. If only it had the same power over HD. *grin*

As a result of switching over, I had a few blog problems and due to a shortage of time, I had to pull the blog until I worked them out. I'm hoping if you are reading this, it means it's all fixed. :)

I'm still typing minus my left index finger, which is still numb and painful, but otherwise healing ok. I can't wait to have all my fingers functioning again.

And now,....For my debut New Blogger Post, I present:

MM's Interview, by HD

1. What is your favorite Christmas memory or tradition?

Driving around looking at the lights. We usually went to the movies on Christmas day, too. It was a day we all knew we'd be together, so that's what I remember the most.

2. If I invite you to a dinner party, what do you want me to serve?

I want whatever you make to impress your dates, of course! And wine. Lots of wine (for you). And I'll bring dessert. ;-)

3. What kind of exotic pet would you actually consider letting your kids adopt?

Well, ferrets are illegal here, so that would have to count, I guess. Other than that, I would say certain (smaller) wild cats would be a consideration. Or a Sasquatch. But only a female.

4. If we ran "The Amazing Race" together and won a leg, what kind of trip should we receive from the Travelocity gnome?

If it were you and I? I would want to go to Temptation Island, where I might have a shot at getting you. *grin* Seriously, I'd want to go (selfishly) somewhere you've already been, so you could be my tour guide, and teach me all the history you undoubtedly know.

5. Suppose that your blogland buddies were trading mix tapes. Which three songs would you include on your mix tape to let people see who you are?

There are so many to choose from, but off the top of my head I'll say,

1. In the Deep, by Bird York

2. Fix You, by Coldplay

3. I'm No Angel, by Dido

I can't stop smelling my finger.

Umm, any guesses as to what it smells like?

I'm skeered!

I have to have the stitches removed today. :( I need a quick consensus; does it hurt having them removed? Some say 'yes', and others tell me 'no'. The results here will help me decide which (if any) drugs to take before going in. I'd do just about anything besides having another injection of *whatever* it was.

I am also supposed to go to the lab to have some blood taken. I used to not be scared of these simple procedures, but I'm not used to it anymore and I'm dreading it. I became a pro when I was pregnant because I was considered "high risk" due to having twins. Back then, they took my blood every week. Now? Not so much. *sigh*

Courage! I need some courage. Mmmm, liquid courage? If only I wasn't driving myself! LOL. Remember what I did to get my ears pierced last year? Goldschlager and Valium (left over from flying). Slight overreaction, in retrospect.

Medical oddities (and other stuff)

When DD was 5, she got Cat Scratch Fever. I didn't even know there *was* such a thing (until then). Turns out, there is. My mom's cat scratched her, and the bacteria infected DD's lymph node, under her arm. She complained it hurt, and when I looked, it was obviously swollen. We took her to the doctor and she went on antibiotics. They didn't work. Next step? Removing the lymph node. I'll never forget walking out of the recovery area (where she waited until going into the OR). My baby, being so brave, sitting in a red wagon (how cool is that?) being wheeled in to have the surgery. It was all ok, and she recovered just fine, but really, what an odd experience. Cat scratch fever? I thought it was only a song, until then.

Next oddity? She had an infection (bacterial, I think) in her mouth. The prescription? Sour candy! She needed to make her mouth water as much as possible. We bought her lemon heads, if I remember correctly. She loved telling everyone about that one.

When she was little, she had another medical problem that always scared me to death. When she was startled, or hurt (even DS pulling her hair, kind of hurt), she would get the wind knocked out of her, to the point of turning blue, and her eyes rolling. The very last time it happened, it was the worst case we'd seen, and I had dialed the 9-1- (of 9-1-1) before DH resuscitated her. Lips and fingernails turned blue instantly. She never did it again, thank cod. But it was scary.

What are your experiences with strange medical problems (if you don't mind me asking) ?

P.S. Can someone tell me why my thumb started hurting, and then a few hours later swelled up and felt tingly? It was also hot to the touch. No bites or broken skin to be seen. Next day? Swelling is down, fever is gone, but there is a small bruise right under the thumb pad (where it was swollen). And it still feels sore. :( I think I'm breaking.

P.S.S. Need some quick advice...(this should prolly be it's own post) I have a friend whose DD, who I'll call snottybratface is known for being highly obnoxious and disrespectful. Whenever I see said friend, I a try to be nice to this girl. She is ten years old, and so bad that my kids beg me not to make them go over there with me. *snort* Anyhow, the other day, as we were leaving a Chuckie Cheesish type place, this girl asks me if I want to get wet...I ignored her, assuming she wouldn't dare squirt me with the water bottle she was holding (I was in my car, with the door open). Next thing I know, I'm wet. My side, and a little on my glasses. I was pissed, and shocked. I couldn't believe her nerve. It was obvious I was not happy, and her mom told her to apologize (it was actually more of a suggestion). Instead, snottybratface laughs at me. No, make that *cackles* at me! Smiling in glee at what she had done. Her mother never made her stop. I pretty much left immediately, without another word to either of them. The problem is, I don't know whether to tell her mom why I am avoiding her now. And yes, I'm avoiding her. Disrespectful kids are intolerable, to me. Might sound harsh, but there it is. I can't do it. No fake smiley "it's oks" from me. Actually, to be honest, I *have* done the fake "it's oks" before, but that was in response to verbal disrespect from her. Now I don't want to be around the kid, now that we all know she can do anything and get away with it.

So, this friend will call me at some point, and I don't know whether to say something or not. Everyone knows her kids are terrible, but nobody says anything. Not even sure if there would be a point. How upset would *you* be? And just to be clear, it's not the *action* that upset me so much, it was the blatant disrespect in how she acted afterward. Help?

Presumptuous Flushing

::disclaimer:: This blog entry is being written at an ungodly hour, and I am way too tired to do it. But I didn't want to leave the icky finger story up any longer /disclaimer

So I was in a bathroom stall last night, when something happened that made me wonder; have you ever had one of the automatic flushing toilets misread you? Then I had to wonder if what *I* was doing was normal. How many people do their "freshening up" in the stall, as opposed to in front of the sink and mirror? See, normally I do that stuff in the privacy of the stall, after hanging my purse on the hook. I don't like brushing my hair in front of other people. Frankly, I don't like *looking* at myself in front of others. I have this fear that they'll see me putting on lipstick (or whatever) and think, "ha! she shouldn't even bother!". I guess it's a pathetic low self-esteem issue I never got past. Anyhow, so I was doing it in the stall, when the toilet assumed I was finished, and flushed. Gah! Now what? Let people wonder what the heck I'm still doing in the bathroom, after the toilet's flushed? I miss the old toilet flushing handles that we push with our foot. *pout*

Don't look, Arkie and HD!

Ok, so my first mistake was washing dishes. Apparently, that's something I should teach the kids to do, but whatever. There I am, washing a glass when I hear the sound of breaking glass. I feel nothing, but look down to see what happened. For some reason, the sink was turning red. That's when I realized what had happened. The bottom of the goblet had come off, and while I was applying pressure to the inside of the glass, it forced it right into my finger. DD was in the kitchen with me. I quickly dropped the glass and in a few steps, was grabbing a towel, to wrap around the finger. When I looked down, there was blood from the sink to the drawer which is across the floor. Lots of blood. I tried to stay calm, but inside, was freaking out. I knew it was deep, and I knew I needed stitches. I also knew our insurance didn't go into effect until midnight, and it was only about 9:30pm. Ack!

I had DD call DH who was still at work (but should have been off by then) and let him know I needed him. He was with someone, and couldn't leave yet. I was going into shock (I've never had a serious injury like this, and was completely unsure as to how to deal with it). I was sweating, shaking, and starting to panic, assuming I would lose the tip of my finger if it wasn't re-attached soon. I was pretty sure I would not bleed to death, but part of me was afraid I might. Like I said, this was a first for me. Anyhow, my dad came before DH, (we had called him about taking the kids, so they wouldn't have to go to the ER). Just then, DH got home. We went to the ER, where astonishingly, nobody seemed too panicked. Hello!? My finger is falling off, people! *sigh*

I had to wait for over an hour. I even asked the guy if the numb feeling was normal, because I was thinking my finger was slowly dying, from lack of blood flow. By the time I was seen, I was tired, and the bleeding had slowed, but not stopped. The doctor that came in...*dreamy sigh* SO freakin' hot. Movie star good looks. It was ridiculous. So now I was nervous because of him, and couldn't look at him for more than three seconds at a time. He was super nice though. While he numbed the finger (note the swollen appearance of my hand) we talked. Don't ask me what about.

I had two shots in the base of the finger. It hurt. A lot. But it didn't work, so he had to give me two MORE shots (after having the cut irrigated...yuck). I swore a bit during that, because they thought I was numbed, but wasn't. By the time he was ready to stitch me up, I was still not numb. He warned me that the next step would be painful. I had to have the injection on the tip of the finger! OUCH! Hurt like a mofo! It was worse than what I assumed the stitches would have felt like, without the numbing. Anyhow, that was pretty much it. Got home around 1am, I think. The doc said it was unusual that I needed so many injections for it to work on me. I was also almost completely un-numbed by the time I went to bed that night. It was an awful night. Feel free to shower me with {{hugs}} (or gifts). *grin*

p.s. about the midget thing: yes, I kinda knew I couldn't post his picture. I guess that's why I asked. *sigh* He is so stinkin' cute. I *do* kinda know the family, but still, can't post someone else's kid online without permission. Darn it. He's so cute.

New blogger doesn't want me (and other news)

Edited to add important question~ (seriously)

Is it wrong to take pictures of a small person who attends the kids school who I am obsessed with? And is it wrong to share how cute he is, here? Honest answers, please. I love this kid, but I don't want to do something inappropriate.

I tried switching over, for your sakes, but it does not seem to want me. :( For now, I am actually *stuck* with old blogger. Sorry guys!

In other news, this update will take me twice as long to write, as I have 5 stitches in my left index finger. I was going to put a picture up, but decided to let you guys decide whether you want to see it. It's gross, so be forewarned. Cast your vote in a comment. :)

I have a long icky (graphic) story behind it, but simply do not not have the patience to type like this for very long, so I'll wait until it's a little easier. Maybe if we decide on doing the pictures, I'll tell you more about it then.

Also, to end the KFC saga, I thought I would share what happened on Friday. DH went to KFC on his lunch break and noticed the District Manager's truck in the parking lot. He hadn't seen or talked to the guy in almost 10 years, but decided to stop and go inside (instead of the drive-thru). They ended up chatting for a while, when DH had to go to the car for his wallet. When he came back in to order, guess who helped him? Sam, the co-manager! She must have been told who he was and she profusely apologized to him! He said she seemed genuine. Anyhow, I thought it was pretty funny that the same day she gets a "talking to" by the DM, the plaintiffs husband comes in, and is friends with her boss. I bet she was mortified. *giggles*

Ok, I've had to do a zillion corrections while typing, and I am tired, so I'll have to end this update here. Don't forget to vote 'Yes' or 'No' on the icky finger injury pictures.
