Ok...
I remember one time getting the worst service EVER at a nice Italian place in Reno, and I never called and complained, and I regretted it for years. I *still* get angry when I think about that night. I ended up leaving with my little brother (then about 14) and my kids. The rest of my family stayed, and she had the nerve to say something about how difficult I was being, to them! Bitch! And know how I was being difficult? I asked her for a larger table, because she thought that my twins could sit in high chairs, behind us, instead of at the table!
Also, they did not have children's menus and she said there was a $10 fee just for sitting there, whether you ate or not. It was ridiculous. I told everyone in my family to stay, but took my brother (who hates pasta) and my two year old kids to Denny's, instead. To this day I'm pissed my family didn't just leave with me. Grrr! See? I would feel better (and let it go) had I done something about it at the time. That's why I did this time. No more regrets.
What was your worst dining/waitress/waiter experience? Did you complain about it?

What should I do?
So, tonight, being the good mother I am, I decided dinner would be KFC. It was just the kids and I, since DH was working late. We ordered 3 snacker combo meals. Mine were buffalo snackers, and the kids got regulars. Normally, I check everything before driving away, but for some reason, tonight, I went straight home. The place was slow, the drive-thru girl was really nice, and it just *felt* ok. So, we get home and I start to unpack the bag. Everything is right, minus two original snackers. I immediately call the store, letting them know what happened, and that I'd be coming back. DD offered to run in, so I gave her the receipt and waited in the car. When she came out, she seemed upset because the "manager" questioned her, and basically let her know that they didn't believe we didn't already have the two snackers. I thought maybe DD was being too sensitive, so on the way home, I asked her to repeat the whole conversation.
By the time we got home, I was fuming. I called the store and asked for the manager. When whoever answered it handed the phone to her, I heard her say, "have fun", which kinda annoyed me. Do they have caller ID? I know some places do. Anyhow, I told her my DD seemed to feel as though she didn't believe her, and that I thought it was inappropriate to do that to a child, and that she should have asked my daughter to get me, if she wanted to question our honesty. She told me that "the employee says she remembers making 6 snackers, so that's what I'm going on..." I told her that unless she packed the bag personally, it was in bad taste to question a cutomer's honesty. I also told her it was not worth my time to drive back over there for $2 worth of free food. *rolls eyes* I asked if she was really the manager, and she confirmed that she was the "co-manager". She never apologized, but kept saying, "well ok, thanks for calling". So now, I am pissed. I think I am going to call the district manager tomorrow and let him know what happened. How is it that *I* was wronged (on accident, which is why I did not cop an attitude when I called to let them know I was missing food) and then *I* am made to feel like the bad guy??? What would YOU do??
Quick update
First, my "best friend" cancelled on me tonight. Said she had the stomach flu. Whatever. She was prolly out with someone else. Pfft!
Second, my all time favorite store is closing. It's been here for 32 years, and has *always* been my 'go-to' store for gifts. When I saw the sign tonight, I almost cried. Everything is 50% off. I called my mom and SIL and told them, so they came over. My mom walked in all happy, because everything was 50% off. I kinda sorta bit her head off, and told her it was a very sad occasion, and not to look so happy. I *did* buy $120 worth of stuff, for only $60, though. *sigh*
Third, my best friend (see above) reads my blog, so I'm really just messin' with her. It's nice having her come here, so when we go out, we can talk about all of you! :) It *is* neat, in all seriousness, to be able to say, "you know, Boo, she's coming out this way!" and have her know what I mean. She is my only RL friend who is allowed here. Feel free to wave at her. Or talk smack about her. She can't defend herself here. *grin*

5. Have you seen the movie Return to Me? If so, is there anyone who didn't like it, or didn't cry? (It's the movie with David Duchovny and Minnie Driver)

Thinking out loud
I've been having so many random thoughts lately, and thought what better place to put them, than my blog? These are the things I think, but rarely (if ever) say aloud.
Who are these children and where did they come from? (lol) Truthfully, it's more of a feeling like, "what the heck? How on earth did I end up being responsible for other people?" I was standing in the bathroom, helping DD blow dry her hair (because apparently it is comparable to torture asking her to do this herself) when I realized that this person, who is practically the same size as me(!) thinks I am a grown up! Gah! This thought occurs to me often, when I am faced with decisions about them that I have no idea how to make. Why do people think I can raise other people? Who made me capable? Which brings me to my other thought:
Thank you, Mom. My mom is not my favorite person. We could not be more different (thank cod, lol). However, she deserves my gratitude and respect, because she did a hell of a job educating me. She taught me things I didn't even realize she was teaching, until I grew up and realized, "hey, mom showed me how to..." Every time I am about to pat myself on the back for making an outstanding parental decision (*grin*) I have to stop and take note that I learned it from her. Damnit.
Why could I not find the umbrella when it was raining, and why is it *right here* in plain sight, now?? I hate it when that happens. (rather random thought)
Why does my generation seem to give up on people and things so easily? My parents' generation believed in sticking it out, no matter what. Crappy job? Tough! Unhappy marriage? You made your bed! Sick/injured? Walk it off! Some call it "Old School", I guess. I believe in balance. I don't think they had it, and frankly, I don't think we do either. Not that I have any suggestions as to what the balance is, LOL. *sigh* I guess I am just disappointed in the instant gratification world we live in, and the intolerance for suffering (personally).
Just another thing on my mind.
Overshare? A poster recently started a thread on OT about people's need to put their personal stuff on the net. I was thinking about that, and realized how even as "motormouth", I'd hate to overshare. Obviously, "overshare" is relative, as I'm sure I am guilty of it myself, in other peoples opinions. The point is, I value my time on OT (and here) enough that even "anonymously", I would not want to ruin my, or any one else's comfort, by putting things out here that are too personal. At the same time, before this place (blogland) became the place it is now, it was meant to be the place for my personal stuff, and thoughts. I'm trying to find that balance. Nobody wants to be a downer, and known for giving TMI all the time, but at the same time, without some freedom to post those things, the point of this blog would be lost. I was grateful to the poster for starting the thread, because it motivated me to reflect on my own blog, and the reasons I started it. It has changed quite a bit in the last year or so, and I have enjoyed it very much. Regardless of what it started as, and what it is now, I am grateful to have it, and all of you, as friends.
So, your turn. Anything you've been thinking lately, but haven't said?
p.s. I added one or two new pics of my nephew over there --->

Maybelline?
In other news, we have had some gorgeous weather here lately! I have a feeling it will come with a price. Spoiling us, and then disappearing again. :( I'll try to add some pics of my nephew, from the nature walk we took earlier today. Lately, my whole family likes to go out on it together, which has been really nice.
Lastly, I *did* finally respond to your comments on my last entry. I've been not around as much during the day, when the blogs are active, so I apologize for updating, and then disappearing. :( I'll work on that.
And with that, I officially end the most boring update, ever. *smooch*

Channeling Coco?
Oh, and um, here's my confession. (this is where I could totally relate to Coco and her Harry Potter thing) When the orchestra came out, I immediately noticed one young man who was wearing a black suit, white shirt and a skinny black tie, done loosely with his top button undone, and wearing a fedora. He was *dead on* Heath Ledger in 10 Things I Hate About You. Dead on. I couldn't take my eyes off him. I started to convince myself that he was NOT a student, but instead, a very young looking legal addition to the otherwise school-aged band. Dead on Heath Ledger. *sigh* So once my friends knew I was crushing on him, they decided to find out his age. Turns out he was 17. *bigger sigh* I cannot believe that for the first time in my life, I could finally understand how some people end up in jail! LOL, ok seriously, I would not have touched him. I doubt he even shaves yet. But damnit, he was Heath Ledger!!! I have a thing for bone structure. I notice it. Before things like eyes and lips stand out to me, I know if I am attracted based on the bone structure. Odd, maybe. *shrug* Anyhow, there is one particular facial bone structure that gets me every time. This kid had the perfect cheek bones, jaw line and nose. Poor kid has no idea that there was a dirty old woman in the audience, thinking all sorts of naughty things about him.
FTR, once I knew his age, I refrained from watching him. There was no way I could sit there having such thoughts, while knowing he was still a boy.
Once I decided to blog about him, I wondered how odd it would sound that I fall for bone structure, before other attributes. What do you fall for first?
Do you notice facial features, like the eyes and mouth? The hair? Are there some things you could not care less about? Like, "hey, as long as he/she has this, who cares if he/she doesn't have this..." kinda thing? Just curious.
edited to add~ (&^%^*@$$!!!! I just peeked at the Amazing Race spoilers forum and saw who went home. :( Maybe someone else can come and yell the word that I want to, but can't bring myself to say...
^%$&&#!!!

A few more pics and a mascara question
BTW, I'm still using old blogger! Ha! Take THAT new blogger! :P
Anyhow, before I continue with the pictures, I need some mascara advice, and I guess I'm too lazy to dig around OT and see what the old girlie threads say. I need some new mascara and just want to find something that doesn't freakin' clump! What have you found that's good? I don't need waterproof, in case that makes a difference.

This is one of my favorite pictures. It's my dad, and three of his grandkids (including my two). We were all on the yard, watching the kids make a sand castle, and my dad was laughing at the kids because they kept coming up to the yard for water (as opposed to using the ocean). So I challenged him to go down there himself and show them how to do it. The next thing we knew, they were all playing in the water. Here, they are waiting for the wave, so they can then turn and run away from it. Pretty soon, my dad was having his fun by pushing the kids down, and getting them (and their clothes) wet!
Pretty soon, my cousin Kelsey decided that Uncle Mike had been a bully for too long, and she thought maybe she'd push him down! This is when the fun really started (for us, watching from the yard). *grin*

By the time this picture was taken, my dad had gotten Kelsey down, and she was determined to bring him down.
As you can see here, she did. Of course, he managed to take her down with him. I'm pretty sure my mom peed her pants when she saw this happen. I choked on my coffee (it was still early in the morning!). This might have been the best laugh we had all weekend. When my dad came up for air, a huge wave crashed over him. He was soaked worse than any of the kids.
Ok, here we have some guy in the men's room at the Madonna Inn. This is a picture of the urinal. It's a rock wall, and as someone stands there, a motion activated waterfall comes on, where the men 'do their business'. Ok really, it's my brother, and he is *not* actually doing anything here. The other (smaller) guy is my DS. Here is a link to see more of the urinal.
This is a dining room there. Apparently, Mrs. Madonna loved pink. Everything is pink.
This is a picture of the ladies room. Not quite as "must see" as the men's room, but very pretty and elaborate, I thought. This picture really does not do it justice.

Here is a picture from the Elephant Seal Vista Point, in Cambria, if I recall correctly. It was so cool too see them all just laying out on the beach. We could have gone down to them, but it was recommended that we stay up high, where it was safer.
Not so cute really. Almost like giant slugs. Still, fascinating to watch (even though they hardly moved, lol!).

Back from a LONG weekend! :)
I decided on the spur of the moment to go to Cayucos for the weekend, where my parents were spending a few days with my aunt and uncle, who have access to a home there every year, for about a week. Cayucos is near Morro Bay, which is just north of San Luis Obispo. It was a four hour drive, easily. My brother decided to take his kids along, too. It was just us, since my DH had to work. We surprised my parents, which was fun. Here's some pics we got while there;

This is a picture of the 'Morro Bay Rock' (the biggest one in the back). I took it from the beach at the house. The smaller rock in the foreground provided hours of entertainment for the kids. When the tide was low, they found starfish, crabs, and all other kinds of tidepool life, there.

Here's the four of them, playing in the water. I? Was on the lawn with binoculars looking for (go ahead and guess.....) sharks! Amazing how much ocean ducks can look like shark fins. *grin*
One of the gorgeous sunsets. On this night, we had a seal swimming right along the shore.

Daytime shot in the opposite direction (away from Morro Bay). It was a quiet beach.
Ahhh, yes. Here is me, at my best. *rolls eyes* This was taken on the pier in Cayucos, where we met a shark fisherman. He caught several recently, one as big as 7 feet long!!! He said some out there were 10 feet. In the background, you can see the big rock that is near our beach, which means we were dangerously close to them!
This pic was taken from the yard, looking down at the beach. You can see how high up we were, and all the steps everyone has to go down, to get to the beach.
There is so much to share about this trip, including more pictures from Hearst Castle and the Madonna Inn, which I'll try to add later. We saw Elephant seals, dolphins and seals while there. The kids had a blast. I ended up staying two days longer than I had planned on, letting the kids miss school, even! *bad mom*

*jumps on bandwagon*
Also, I'm adding a picture of the "I'm sorry" basket that Jennifer sent home to me with my brother (who saw her husband yesterday). She put everything she knew I liked in it, my gum, a giant bottle of Malibu (Doh! This gives you a free point on the test, LOL!), some Blow Pops, some bath thingys, and a giant cat blanket she "made" for me. There's also a Panera gift card and an apology card. I just thought it was funny, and wanted to share it with you guys.

Updating just to update
In other news, I bought some new sunglasses today. I have the hardest time finding the right pair. I was wondering how many of my blog friends are the peeps who buy the giant, movie star looking sunglasses...? The kind that you used to only see on Mary-Kate Olsen and Jessica Simpson. I have one pair of those myself, though a little smaller than the ones I'm referring to, and I like them when I'm driving. Can you drive without sunglasses? Some people do all the time. I can't even leave the house without them. I hate the kind that have those little clear things that rest on your nose, because a) they leave little red marks on the sides of your nose, and b) they get caught in your hair when you push them up on top your head. Any one else have that problem?
I also have a hard time finding ones that don't fall off my face when I look down. That is one of my major pet peeves. I'd almost rather not wear glasses than have to worry about that.
Wow, that was an exciting topic worth updating about! *grin* When I have some more time, I'll have to try doing one of the tests that so many others have done. It looks fun.
