What do you think?

So, I went to Kohl's and found these wall sconces on sale for $7.99 each. I thought they were perfect in color and size (keep in mind that for some reason, everything appears smaller in the pics). I went to several places a few days later and ended up finding the candles at Wal-Mart. They were cheap, scented and a good enough color until I find the right pillows I can accent from. I'm thinking of finding some pillows with the green from the picture, with a little bit of pale pink in them too, if I can. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tonight I made some brownie cookies. They were from my low fat cookbook and very yummy. 66 calories each, which I thought was kinda high, but whatever. They were good enough for the family to gobble up. Tomorrow I'll do chicken strips from the cookbook. Does anyone know of a low fat way to make potatoes? Not mashed, but more like french fries I can bake or something?
My 5 month pregnant not quite SIL (brother's GF) is so incredibly stupid. Or maybe I'm just mean. I think I mentioned a long time ago how dramatic she is, and how she couldn't do anything to help us with dinner after she knew she was pregnant, at 6 weeks! Well, the other night she was at my moms and she said two things that completely boggled my mind. One, she said that "the baby hates cold hands". I'm thinking WTF? She then goes on to say how my brother touched her belly and his hand was cold, so the baby "freaked out and started moving all over to get away from the cold"! Okkaaaayy. Then she complained that the baby "wakes her up to eat every morning". I'm thinking "you have no idea what the hell it's like to be waken up to eat in the morning, yet". *rolls eyes* She says her tummy rumbles and that is the baby telling her to eat. I love her excitement, I really do. I'm just a cranky old bitch I guess, because frankly, I don't want to hear how hard being a mother is when you're not even freakin' showing yet! Ok, feel free to tell me I'm being a petty spoil-sport here. *hangs head in shame* (or, you can laugh at her with me)
Hope everyone had a great weekend! Anything exciting happen for anyone?
little stuff
I'm incredibly bummed because it appears as though I am the only woman in America who's ears are going to be impossible to keep pierced! The 24kt over sterling silver dangly ones didn't take very well. When I cleaned them they still bled sometimes and they kind of hurt a little bit too. I realized today that my earlobes have a "lump" inside them, all around the hole (piercing). Is that normal? I tried to read up on it and I found little helpful information. No timelines anywhere, to tell me if problems like this are normal after almost 3 months. I put the studs back in and will try to keep them. I desperately don't want to give up pierced ears, but I'm afraid I'm the rare freak who just can't have them. *pout*
I bought some candle wall sconces at Kohl's the other day and still have to get candles. I can't believe I didn't think of that while I was there! Anyways, once I get them hung I'll take a picture. I still haven't found pillows though.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We got some chicken burgers from Sam's Club after Costco quit selling the turkey ones we loved, and we realized that these chicken burgers have 9 grams of fat! Why bother eating a chicken burger when it's that high in fat? I was so disappointed! Only around 160 calories but loaded with fat. *frown*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have absolutely no smut to share. I told DH last week (maybe two weeks ago) to please stop asking for sex. He acted ok about it and admitted that he had been hounding me too much, but then the other day he said he felt as though I had "castrated" him. WTF? Hard to find a balance when someone is being dramatic about it. The end result is that we don't scrump so often anymore, and of course that means less smut here. Was it wrong of me to ask him to temporarily stop asking for it? I told him I'd come to him when I wanted to. Unfortunately, that's not very often right now. *feeling really unsmutty now*
And on a completely personal note; my DH decided to go to OT and find a sig that had a blog linked. When he did, he went to that blog and then proceeded to read some of the other linked blogs. He avoided mine because he knows it's off limits to him. He found some comments I made to some "unnamed peeps" and was hurt that I would blatantly flirt here. So, does he have a point? Have you seen me cross a line? Would it bother your spouse to read all the comments you make in blogs or on OT? I told him I'd cut back on the flirting (what choice do I have?) but I am angry at him for snooping. Am I out of line here?
Opinions?
I went picture shopping this weekend and found this picture (and bought it) from a consignment store. I love the colors but my only hesitation is whether it is too small for the couch. I have some iron candle holders that I could hang on either side of the picture, but then I think it would all be the same length as the couch, and I don't think that would look right either. It's late at night so the color quality sucks, but hopefully you get an idea...tell me what you think. Also, I need some more color in the room and was wondering what colors I could take from the picture to add in the room (perhaps throw pillows on the couch?). The couch color is much different in photos than it is IRL. In the photos the couch looks like it doesn't match the picture colors, but they really do, in better lighting. I am an awful person
And I was glared at tonight, by a stranger, to prove it. :(
(this was actually written on Monday night)
So, my aunt called me and asked me if I could meet her at a gas station as she was passing through town, so she could give me a gift to pass on to my mother. I agreed of course. By the time she called to have me meet her, I had just painted my toenails and decided to go barefoot, despite the freezing weather. I took the kids with me and headed to the gas station. I didn't really want to get out of the car because I was barefoot, but I *was* willing to step out long enough to hug her, and then a couple more times when she was showing stuff to me. Anyways, being her (which is a very irritating personality) everything was going wrong and I was just there, waiting for her to be able to get her card working so she could get gas, then for the pump to work, since she couldn't quite figure it out. I was cold and frustrated but I was waiting because she wanted to "show me something". *sigh*
So fine. I waited. Finally, after she showed me all of her half done quilts (and runners and wall hangings, etc.) she said she had one more thing. As she headed back to her car (which was still filling with gas) she asked me to tell her about my mother's "fall". Well, I hadn't explained it to her yet that my mother hadn't fallen, but anyways, as she asked me to tell her about it, she decided to duck underneath the gas pump's hose (which was still filling her car). You'd have to know her to know why this is ridiculous on many levels. My aunt is NOT nimble. She is not healthy. She is not extremely bright. She is only in her 50s, but people have mistaken her for being in her 70s. So, she decided to duck under the hose, and she realizes too late that she cannot do this. She realizes this as she falls to her hands and knees, on the ground. I saw her fall and while everything in me screamed "go help her up!" my body betrayed me.
Instead, I started laughing. At first I tried to hide it but then I saw the lady one row over looking at me, and then back at my aunt, and looking very shocked. I tried to get the kids to move, so I could get to her, but they weren't quick enough...and seeing that lady looking at me like that, OMG, it made me laugh harder. I was still standing by my car with the door open, and as my aunt got up, I didn't want her to see me laughing so I sat down in the car and ducked down so I could really let loose. Even now, as I write this (feeling ashamed) I am still laughing at the memory. My poor aunt fell all the way to the ground, in our presence, and still had to get up with no help. It is shameful! And the lady who was getting gas next to my aunt? She gave me the iciest glare I've ever gotten by a stranger before, as she drove away. (it's funny because when it first happened and she looked at me, I really thought that she would start laughing too. I couldn't understand how she could *not* laugh)
My aunt almost bumped her head on her open car door as she stood up, which made me laugh even harder. I know I'm evil. I feel SO bad! And yet, as I write this and replay the scene in my head, I still can't stop laughing. My aunt forgave me, but she did give me a hard time. She knows I come by it honestly as everyone on my mom's side of the family laughs when someone gets hurt. (not *seriously* hurt)
My aunt called me later, after we'd said goodbye and I went home, to ask me how she fell. She couldn't remember how it happened. She thought she tripped. I had to tell her *without laughing* that she fell because she tried to duck under the gas hose. *snort*
So, on a scale of 1 to 10, how awful am I? And please tell me something awful about you so I don't feel so alone.
P.S. I called my aunt later in the evening just to apologize again. She has forgiven me.
What are you afraid of?
Today while I was at my mom's house I had a horrific experience. I was cleaning for her and I ran into a really big spider. I already knew I was afraid of them, but I really had thought I was getting better. Apparently not. So this spider starts crawling and I ran for the bug spray. When I came back I couldn't find it, so I started moving furniture. I couldn't just let it walk around the house (at least not while *I* was there). Anyhow, as I was giving up, heading to the phone to call my brother and let him know he had to find it when he got home, I spotted the sonofabitch running along the wall, towards the slider. I sprayed it really good and it freaked out and started running. Well, seeing a spider run is what freaks me out completely. I started screaming and swearing at it, and I tried to open the slider so it could get out. It's long black legs were reaching all over the glass *shiver* and it was an effing BIG spider. As I slid the door open, it decided to run back in, towards me. At this point, my legs were freezing up and my breathing was erratic. I decided to douse it one last time and then if it didn't stop I would put the trash can on it. As I emptied the bug spray on it it finally curled up, and died.
At that point I was able to focus on my own reaction and that is when I noticed several things. a) I was crying really hard, b) my legs not only were frozen, but they were actually hurting, c) my breathing was more like hyperventilating, and d) all my toes were completely curled (and not in a good way) and they were literally stuck that way for several minutes.
This confirms to me that I do not care for spiders.
So, what makes you react that way?
Happy Monday everyone!
Don't sexy undergarments really make you feel wonderful? Tell me, do you match the bra and panties? Do you wear thongs? High-cuts, bikini, lowrise, granny panties, boyshorts, etc? How much will you spend on your underwear? I have to admit, I went through a cheap ass phase where I only wore cheap, comfortable bras that offered *no* support. They felt great, but goodness, now that I've joined the world of underwire again, I feel like a new person. What was I thinking?? I have no problem buying Target brand panties, but won't do Wal-Mart. I just don't like the quality, though I'm sure they have some normal brands like Fruit of the Loom and whatnot. Also, while I love Victoria's Secret panties, the bras are not for me. If I was a 34 B I suppose I'd shop there, but once you get past a D cup they are stingy on their availability. I would *love* to have smaller boobs, just to wear the dainty, cutesy bras. *sigh* And yet I know most smaller chested women want more up there, so maybe we're never happy?
Just like women with curly hair (which I would LOVE to have) always seem to want straight hair, and vice versa. Anyhow, if you don't want to talk about your underwear, how about sharing your latest sex dream? *wink*
Happy Friday
First things first;
*hands HD a tall glass of OJ*
*waits*
Well, I had a good time tonight! I went to a local little Pub and had dinner and drinks with another mom I know from the kids school. We talked about our husbands and our sex lives. She loves her DH and finds him attractive but they only "do it" once a month. WTF? Anyways, to each his own I guess. We talked about other stuff too, but c'mon, I can't just share *everything* with you guys. ;-)
Blogland has been so quiet lately. :( Arkie did the coolest thing on her blog with the video entry, and it was so nice to see. I want to do the 20 questions thing but I'm thinking maybe next week.
One more thing, do you guys swear in public? While at dinner tonight there was some guys playing darts near the booth I was in, and they kept yelling "F*CK" really loudly. I tried to ignore it, but it surprised me each time one would say it. Is that normal behavior? (for them, not me!)
Alright, that's it for now. Everyone have a great Friday! *smooch*
Earring question (most exciting blog entry ever)
You might recall that I got my ears pierced on January 8, this year (for my birthday). After 6 weeks I was told I could take the studs out but I had to use straight posts. I was a bit paranoid about switching them out because I fear I have sensitive ears and don't want them to get infected. I decided to change them to some 14kt gold earrings that were also a straight post, but much smaller (the post). Anyhow, that was about 2 weeks ago and I tired of those because they were so small (the actual earring) and I wanted something a little bit prettier. What I ended up buying are dangly earrings that are 24kt gold over sterling silver. I had a helluva time putting them in since the posts on them are so much bigger than the ones I took out tonight. My questions are these...
Is it wise to use gold plated earrings, instead of solid gold? Am I likely to end up with infected ears now that I've messed with my ears again, and changed out the earrings? How long am I supposed to be ultra careful? The lady said it can take a year for the ears to completely heal, but I don't want to wait that long to wear fun earrings. She also said I couldn't wear fishhook styled earring until after a year, which eliminates almost all the good earrings right there. *pout*
BTW, did you know that Hershey's has a new candy called Kissables? They're candy coated mini kisses. Why did everyone in my family know about these and I didn't? I think it's so freakin' cute. I bought some tonight but probably won't open them. I just like to look at it. So adorable.
What were they thinking?
Sometimes I look back at my childhood and I wonder what the hell my parents were thinking. As a parent, there are things I would never let my kids do, that I was able to. When I bring it up to my parents, they accuse me of making things up, or dreaming things and thinking it was true when it's not. (what.ever!) The things they let me do...go on a cruise with my best friend, I was 17, she was 14. Hello? Running around Mexico with little to no supervision? Even running around the ship with no supervision seems like a bad idea to me. Crazy. Also, when we were kids, we were allowed to "explore" around my grandpa's house, in the mountains. We routinely went on hikes, with nothing more than a stick and a dog as "protection". Weren't they afraid of snakes, or bears, or mountain lions getting us? I know that I am afraid of those things now. I can't imagine being as fearless as we were, and traipsing through the mountains, looking for forts and whatnot. Sheer stupidity! I know times have changed and all that, but now I can't help but wonder, am I overly protective, or were my parents just dumb for letting me do some of the things they let us do? The funny thing? I wasn't even allowed to leave the culdesac where I lived until I could drive. So while certain activities were deemed "safe", others were not. Makes no sense to me.
How about you? Were you allowed to do things you would never allow your children to do? Or, do you just ever wonder what the heck your parents were thinking sometimes?
Maybe I'm sick but... (Fridays are for smut, right?)
... this quiz cracked me up! (I spent about 30 minutes trying to get it to link with just text, and could not do it. I followed the freakin' directions over and over and it just would not work for me. Any ideas? ) Anyhow, here is the link (in it's entirety, Grrr!)
And here's a couple of jokes I thought were worthy of a chuckle, too.
What's the difference between anxiety and panic?
- anxiety is the first time a man can't get it up the second time.
- panic is the second time he can't get it up the first time.
This boy has just taken his girlfriend back to her home after being out together, and when they reach the front door he leans with one hand on the wall and says to her, "Sweetie, why don't you give me a blowjob?""What? You're crazy!" she said."Look, don't worry," he said. "It will be quick, I promise you.""Nooooooo! Someone may see us, a neighbor, anybody...""At this time of the night no one will show up. Come on, sweetie, I really need it.""I've already said NO, and NO is final!""Honey, it'll just be a really small blowie... I know you like it too.""NO!!! I've said NO!!!" Desperately, he says, "My love, don't be like that. I promise you I love you and I really need this blowjob."At this moment the younger sister shows up at the door in her nightgown and her hair totally in disorder. Rubbing her eyes she says: "Dad says, 'Dammit, give him the blowjob or I'll have to blow him but for God's sake, tell your boyfriend to take his hand off the intercom button so the rest of the family can get some sleep."
This last joke was actually a commercial the first time I saw it, and much funnier that way. But still, pretty good in this form too, I thought.
Forwarded Questions
I got this email from my mother-in-law, the kind with a zillion questions you're supposed to answer and send back to the sender (along with all your friends of course). Anyways, I edited out a bunch of questions and just left the ones I'd be interested in knowing, but there was one that asked who was the least likely to respond to it, and my MIL said "Tabitha". LOL! Was that kind of a slam on me? I know I usually delete her forwards without opening them but jeez, does she expect me to read and reply to them? Do you reply to forwards? What irked me was that she sent it to my family email, where all her emails are sent, and I wonder why she assumes *I* am the only one who gets (and never responds) to her emails? Whatever. I immediately responded and sent it back to her of course.
(I might have added one or two of my own questions, btw) ;-)
