I? Was not the oldest person in my class. Not even close. *grin* I also was nowhere near the youngest, but hey, who's counting? ;-)
The class went fine, a little boring since it was just an overview of everything we'll be learning. I hope my friend Ashley behaves herself a little better in the future...she was doodling on her syllabus, whispering and checking out guys the whole time. I do think she'll get her act together though, since I gave her a good tongue-lashing afterward and told her I wouldn't sit by her next time if she didn't behave. It was a good reminder that she's only 20, lol!
The Professor said we could call her at home, btw. *giggle*
Nothing else going on here really, just more insanely cold weather. *waves to Swami*
Is anyone watching the show Crowned? Hosted by Shanna Moakler, I think. Anyways, DD watches it and I just wondered if we were the only ones.

Boo has spoken...
So I must update. :)
My real class starts tonight. I'm really excited. I think I will continue taking computer classes for a while, and then hopefully know more about what I want to accomplish in school. It's just really nice knowing I have a foot in the door now, after years of wanting to do this.

The other day I went into Panera with a friend and as I was walking up to the counter, the girl said, "Tabitha?". I said yes, and looked at her closely, wondering how she knew me. Her face meant nothing to me (and I feel really badly admitting that). She said, "I'm Elisha Lastname, we went to elementary school together". I knew the name was familiar, but the face still didn't register. But why should it? It had been over 17 years since I'd seen her! How on earth did she recognize me so quickly? My hair is darker and god, I just hoped I looked much differently than I did back then, lol! The sad part is that her and I were best friends during one grade (can't remember which, might have been 3rd...) and she even came to my house to play. I felt like a jerk while explaining to my friend Ashley who she was and how I barely remembered her at all.
It made me wonder how often people run into old school mates. I'm sure most of you went to high school, so you likely all look a little more like your friends would remember you, but still, what's the longest period of time that's gone by where someone saw you and recognized you? Did you instantly know who they were? Also, other than saying it was nice to see her again, would you have exchanged numbers or anything? She seemed so genuinely happy to see me, even telling me she had asked my cousin about me when she saw him in the restaurant, too.
It's just funny to me because I've always assumed I look totally differently than I used to, though I'm not sure why I assume that. Don't you think you look really differently as an adult, than you did as a kid?

Call me responsible...
I was 6 days early to my class tonight! Yay! At first, it appeared as though I was 20 minutes late (after walking into a full class already in progress) but after talking to the classroom aide, we were told our class does not start until next Monday. The email I got had made it sound like it was tonight instead, due to yesterday's holiday. Oops. It was a good experience for me though, as it is one of my worst fears. Felt like a walk of shame exiting the room after interrupting the class. How embarrassing. *sigh*
I ended up going to Starbucks with my friend Ashley and having hot coco and chatting for the two hours we would have been in class, so that was nice.
In other news, it's so effing cold here that I can cut glass with my nipples.
Oh, and I finally saw my mother-in-law for a few minutes tonight...and she's leaving in the morning, so it was a fairly painless visit this time, lol!
Raise your hand if you're lucky enough to love your MIL! *waits*

LOL!
A while back I posted about my habit of walking girlie, and also commented on how my little finger is always out when I drink. When I saw this picture, I laughed and immediately thought about that post. It's a hard pic to post because a) I hate pictures of me smiling (as some of you already have noticed, lol) and b) I myself left the cupboard door open (behind me) and it's bugging the crap out of me. So is all the other clutter in the background...

Other than this, not much else to post about. Kids are home on Monday, so I won't be around as much. Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Couple-a-things...
1. DH has been sick and home a lot lately, which is greatly effecting my ability to play. Grrr! I must be the least sympathetic bitch on earth because I'm about to clobber him already. Ugh.
2. His mother is coming here tonight and I have to clean. Which is dumb because she won't notice anything anyways.
3. Hershey's wrote me back (I had emailed them whining about not finding the Hershey's dark espresso kisses) and they said there is some kind of other dark chocolate espresso bites (or something) at Target. I'll be checking that out! WooHoo!
4. That's all I got. *smooches*

Monday Update
Question I meant to ask last week;
I went out to dinner with my friend Brianne a week or so ago and while we were at the restaurant, the waiter we had was extremely flirtatious. Not flattering flirtatious though, more like sleazy and obviously his "schtick" in terms of probably getting more tips. Physically, he reminded me of a bald Prince (or The Artist FKA, or whatever). I found it insulting and obnoxious. He reminded me of those horrid sales people who come to your door and are trained to do stupid things, like getting you to high-five them (please tell me someone else has had that happen, lol), I guess under the assumption we're dumb enough to think we're "friends". Anyhow, it made me wonder how you all would feel (and tip) under the same circumstances. He actually did a very good job, but I tipped about a dollar less than I normally would have, only because I did not want him to think it had *worked*. Was that wrong? I'm sure he got somewhere between 15% and 20%. Does that behavior bother you guys at all?
Also, I'm adding a picture from a week or so ago when the kids and I played Monopoly. My DD got the pink one as a gift and I had agreed to play with her. The same day we were to play, I got a special present in the mail and I wanted to use it as my playing piece SO bad, but it was way too big. In honor of it though, I used on of DD's barbie shoes. *giggle* They are both pictured in the center of the board. Big Thank You to my gifter!!! *smooch*

When did life change so much?
I feel I blog mostly about my schedule and I was wondering why when it hit me... I'm busier than I've ever been! And there is really no reason for it. I'm not sure when it all changed, but it has. Every single week has multiple appointments or "dates" with a friend. I really miss the days when it seemed like I was always home.
Today I had a job interview. It went well but I'll have to call the lady and let her know I can't accept the job because it's simply too far from my house and the hours are not at all what I can swing with the kids (at their age). When I went in, it was without knowing where they would want to place me. Turns out it's a half hour drive with NO traffic, but likely an hour with. I'd be gone 11 hours a day and have to work on Saturdays. :( I liked the lady a lot, but I can't be that far from the kids, or be gone that long. So I need to work harder at looking closer to home. I know it shouldn't be a big factor, but I can't help but also think about whether I'll have internet access where I work. I don't know how I could go all day without email or you guys. Ack! Scary thought.
Does anyone have anything "new" to share? Any big changes you have yet to blog about?
P.S. Thank you for all the birthday wishes... interestingly, turning 32 did not hurt one bit. :)

Was I out of line?
I forgot to blog about this a couple weeks ago, so I will now...
I took the kids to the little store around the corner from my house (ok, it's a liquor store technically, lol) for an after school treat, and I let them go in alone. I was sitting in the car and watching them through the window. The only thing I asked them to buy me was a bottle of water. When they came out, they had forgotten, so I asked my son to go back in. He hesitated, and then asked DD to do it for him. When she went in, I asked him what was up. Apparently the guy behind the counter accused DS of stealing! He asked if there was "anything else" as they were checking out, and then pointed to the cameras that were in the corner. He said he could check them if he needed to. DS just kept saying that no, that was it, and then paid and came out. I? Was furious. Beyond furious. I called DH and asked if I should/could go in and say something, and he said I could if I wanted to.
I waited for the couple customers to leave and then went in. I asked him if there was a reason he accused my son of stealing. He immediately started to apologize and said that he hadn't. I repeated what he had said and he tried to explain that he hadn't meant to accuse him...he seemed really nervous about it. I said, "look, I know you get a lot of kids in here and I'm sure some of them steal...I know you don't know my son but as a mother, it's really upsetting to have my kid come to the car shaken up about something he didn't do!". The guy kept apologizing to me. I even acknowledged that I knew my son was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and that I could see why he was suspicious, but I said I work hard at raising my kids "right" and I'd appreciate if he never did that again.
When I went back to the car, my son was beaming. I told him to never make me regret jumping to his defense by NEVER stealing anything, ever.
The thing is, I can't help but understand why the storekeeper would be suspicious. He doesn't know my son. So was I out of line? I could have just talked to my son about why the guy was acting that way and try to make a lesson out of it that way...but I don't know, I guess the maternal instinct to protect him was just too strong that day. What would you have done?

this-n-that
First of all, my NYE was actually pretty good. We went to my mom's (as usual) and had a big turkey dinner, which I was NOT in favor of. I did not want to do another big deal dinner and be stuck cleaning, but in the end, it wasn't that bad. My ex-SIL came over and ate with us for the first time since her and my brother split, over two years ago. It was nice being with her, though my brother says they are in no way getting back together. It was mostly for the kids sakes.
We did go outside at midnight *waves to MTW* but I only lasted a couple minutes because it was so cold! There were the normal illegal fireworks and people making noise. The kids loved it.
My DD spent the night, but DS and I left after 1am. I was in my house at around 1:45 or so when I heard a bunch of sirens and of course my heart sank, knowing someone was having a bad NYE. Turns out there was a drunk driver out who hit another car, killing a 19 year old and leaving her 5 year old brother in critical condition. I saw that on the news tonight. Just heart breaking. They said the drunk driver coincidentally lives only a few houses down from the girl he hit. *sigh*
------------------------------------------------------------
I've been pretty darn busy lately...in case you've noticed me not on OT or commenting as much. I start a computer class in a couple weeks (one night a week). I also have my MIL coming in a couple weeks too, so I still have lots to do, though she is not staying with us more than one night (thankfully!!). Still, we'll be seeing some family at that time, so I'll need to get things ready.
------------------------------------------------------------
I watched two movies recently that were really good! One was called Amores Perros, a foreign film that had some really rough scenes in it, but was really moving. The other, easier to watch but also foreign is called 3-Iron (Bin-jip). I thought the subtitles would annoy me (though I've watched other ones in the past) but the movies were so engrossing that you forget they are not in English. Any fans of foreign films here? Are you opposed to reading subtitles? (the movie titles are linked to the IMDB, if you want to look at them)
-----------------------------------------------------------
I don't really have any resolutions to start the year with. I've had the same goals long enough now that there really isn't a difference. It's just more of the same, and hoping to make positive changes in my life. You know what, strike that. I have some returns I *need* to make, very soon. THAT will be my resolution this year, lol!
