Is this normal?

I have to admit, I *love* to scare people. I almost never let an opportunity pass me by. Today, I scared my brother twice. The beauty of it was that I'm so good at it, I can make it look like an accident (no retaliation that way). The bad thing is, you can never describe to someone how funny a scared reaction is. Unless they pee their pants or something, because that would translate very well. My brother jumps and screams like a girl, but even better, is the instant swearing and death wishes he spews at me. That means I got him really good! *grin*

I've been known to 'lie in wait' for up to an hour before, if I thought the payoff would be good. The one bad thing is that sometimes, the anticipation of waiting for the other person to come, causes me to get so worked up that *I* actually get startled and scream when the "victim" finally shows up. THAT is embarrassing! My dad got me the other day when I was at his house. All he had to do was walk in the kitchen and say, "hi", and I jumped and screamed. Then I swore and threw something at him, to reward him for a job well done.

So, is this a twisted and evil habit, or harmless fun? And is it wrong to scare children? Are they off limits? And what's the worst you've ever been scared (by someone)? Do you get angry, or laugh it off?

Am I being petty?

I have to vent, at the risk of sounding petty. I think I mentioned here a while ago that my brother's pregnant girlfriend informed me that I was going to throw her a baby shower, with her sister. I remember feeling somewhat indifferent, but also slightly agitated by the fact that I was told, rather than asked (or heaven forbid, letting me volunteer). Anyhow, so as soon as I was told, I knew I would let her sister run the show. She's a bit of a control freak, and also, it's *her* sister, so I figured she'd be rightly more interested in the details. I went over to talk to her about it one day and she showed me everything she had picked out (no asking my opinion). I told her I'd do whatever she needed, and to keep me posted. After a week or two, I emailed her, reiterating the offer and showing her a link to a site with the party favors she was looking for.

Today (did I mention that she lives next door to me?) she pops her head over the fence and asks if I want to see the "finished invitations". I oblige of course, and as I look it over, I notice two things. One, she printed "James's" instead of "James'", and two, she wrote only her name as the person hosting the party. She then asked me to purchase all the candy for the party favors and put them together. I'm feeling like I should either be included as a co-hostess, or left out of it. It's true, she has done most the work, but that was by her choice. Anyway, the point is not that I need the credit, but I thought it was rude of her to to leave me out, and still include me in helping. She even mentioned letting me know which foods I'm supposed to bring. I wouldn't have cared at all if I hadn't been informed of my participation. I don't know, maybe this is petty. I was irked when I first saw it, but at this point, I'm just having to let it go (but not before I bitch about it here). *grin*

How nosy?

I was thinking today about how much I've changed over the years in terms of nosiness. I used to be the type of person who wanted to know everything, no matter what. At my very worst, I would even snoop. Really snoop. I'm embarrassed to admit that. I used to clean houses years ago, and though I didn't open drawers, I *did* look at envelopes with pictures, and on the desks and whatnot. Couldn't help myself. I was also willing to beg people for information, and secrets. I have no idea why I did this. I remember when I was 5 years old, we lived in the country, and my neighbors left their house. I watched them leave, then went over and let myself in. I walked around all the rooms, just looking. Didn't open drawers or anything, but I totally loved the feeling of being there, seeing all their stuff.

Now, as I've gotten older, I totally love and embrace the idea of not wanting to know too much. I don't mind when people share things, but I don't beg, or push for anything, and I certainly don't snoop. Sometimes my mom will ask me if I saw something somewhere in her house and she'll say that "it was in the drawer" or something. I just laugh, because honestly, it wouldn't occur to me to go look *in* the drawer, to begin with. I never even go through DH's wallet anymore.

Anyways, I just wondered, is it normal for peeps to snoop? Do you open medicine cabinets, or look in someone's drawers, if they're not looking? Do you want to know personal things, or would you rather not know?

Embarrassing moments

Ok, time for the embarrassing one. I'll only do one though. ;-)

The one from childhood that sticks out the most is when I was in 3rd grade. I've always hated the cold. I hated recess time when we all had to go outside when it was cold. So, one early spring day we were outside for recess and I was miserable. As I was walking on the blacktop, I bent down to touch the ground, and found it was warm from the sun. It felt so good, I sat down on the ground. I'm not sure how I ended up this way, but the next thing I knew, I woke up, laying flat on the ground with about 10 of my peers and a yard supervisor standing over me, very concerned! They assumed I was hurt. I was so embarrassed that I played along, making up an elaborate story about falling down and hitting my head. They rushed me to the office and called my parents, telling them I might have a concussion. I tried insisting I felt fine, but after finding me "knocked out" on the ground, they would have none of that. *embarrassed smile*
I went home early that day, and never told anyone the truth about what happened.

Oh! I have to share this other one I just remembered. I was about 12 years old, sunbathing at a public swimming place with my aunt, brother and my Big Crush. I was thinking I was pretty hot laying there, on my stomach. I was making sure my hair was falling over my back, and I had my hot pink sunglasses on (very cool!). My crush walked over to wear I was and sat next to me. I tried looking nonchalant and uninterested in him when all of a sudden he let out a huge "EWWW!" I sat up looking around and asking what he was talking about. He pointed to my back and said I looked like a lizard. :( My back was peeling really badly and I had no idea!
That? Was horrifying.

Ok, I shared two. Now I'd love to have some ammunition back-up from you guys. Tell me something that embarrassed you as a child.

Scariest, most embarrassing & happiest moments

Reading Zombie's post about her happy childhood memory made me reflect on some of mine, and I thought it would be fun to share them, and hear yours. I chose the scariest, happiest and most embarrassing, but feel free to choose only one, or even a different category altogether.

Scariest~

This was hard to choose, since children get scared so easily, so I'll share two.

One was simply when myself and some cousins went into the bathroom, shut off the lights and did the "Bloody Mary" thing in the mirror. Ever heard of this? You chant something, turn around a couple times and supposedly something happens. Well, we did it, and something happened. I have to admit though, as much as I believed what I saw at the time, I'm less sure now that it really happened. We did the chant and then stood there, in the complete darkness staring in the direction of the mirror. After maybe 3 seconds, all of our eyes turned red, glowing in the mirror. I know it wasn't just my perception, since we all screamed at the exact same time, and all believed we saw the same thing. Freaky.
The other time was when I was walking in Benecia (Bay area) with my older male cousin and a younger female cousin, and a car sped past us on the residential street. My older idiot male cousin yelled out "slow down", and the car slowed down, and then turned around coming back towards us. We took off running and ended up in a huge field behind the housing development. The two young guys in the car were chasing us, and yelling that they would kill my cousin (the idiot) and rape my younger cousin and I. I was about 14 years old. We hid in some bushes, then ended up hopping fences, trying to get home without being seen. The guys used some graphic language, describing how they'd cut my cousin and what they'd do to me.
In retrospect, I think they were just trying to scare us, though they really did have to go through some trouble to get into the field with us (they had to drive to the other side of the development and find a hole in the fence, in order to cut us off on the other side).

Anyways, those two stand out as being my scariest childhood moments. I'll share the most embarrassing and happiest moments in the next day or two.

6 Things

Here are the rules-
1. Reveal six weird facts/things/habits about yourself and then tag six people

SIX THINGS

FTR, I've read most of everyone else's, and I must say, I'm much more normal than I thought I was, before. We have some *very* weird peeps out there! ;-)

1. I hate bananas, but love banana chips. I hate tomatoes, but love tomato soup.

2. If I see a loose strand of hair on somebody, I will find a way to get it off of them, without them knowing.

3. I am agoraphobic.

4. My best girlfriend and I end every conversation by saying, "elephant shoes". I won't say why, though. ;-)

5. The sound of feet rubbing on bare carpet is worse than nails on a chalkboard, IMO.

6. Every time I hear the song "How Do I Live?" by Leann Rimes, I start to cry.

I tag: Everyone who hasn't been tagged. Since everyone will likely be tagged at least once anyways, why wait?

Special thanks to MTW, who helped me learn to do the links.

I give up

Until tomorrow, at least. I did the 6 things post. I was so happy because I finally made my links appear as text, but when I published it, the links wouldn't work. Could have been because I effed around with the text color, I don't know. Anyhow, I tried to redo it, and got frustrated. So now, I give up. I will try again later. *sigh*

Butt cracks and greeting card etiquette

Two things;

One, I met a man from Wisconsin today. *waves to Weltek* Before I met him, I spoke to his wife on the phone, and my goodness! That accent is unmistakable! The guy was delivering my dad's new jukebox (when I say "new" I mean, new to him. It's from the 1950s, I think, and seriously ugly!) The guy was really smelly (B.O) and as he tried to get the jukebox into the house on his own, I had to see his butt crack more than once. It was not pretty.

The other thing I was thinking about was greeting cards. When you send Holiday cards or birthday cards, do you write anything on them usually? I have to admit, I don't send out cards very often, but when I do, I usually try to write something personal in them. My MIL, who lives in Minnesota, sends cards religiously, for every occasion. I think it's really nice of her, I do. BUT~ I have to admit, it bothers me that no matter what, the only thing ever written inside is
"love, Mom and Mike" (Mike= her creepy husband) .

Sometimes, I don't even want to open them, because I know exactly what to expect. Is this wrong of me? Is it only the thought that counts, here? Maybe because she lives so far away and never calls, I'm always hoping there will be some tiny little personal tidbit, especially for my children. Be honest, am I asking too much? Is it normal to only sign your name on a card? I am completely open to the idea that *I'm* the one who is expecting too much here.

*yawn*

Well, I'm ready for the weekend, already. My weekend was sucked up quickly by too many things. I've been spoiled with lackadaisical weekends, I guess. This weekend, I was supposed to clean my house from top to bottom, in preparation for an appraisal being done (on Monday morning). So naturally, I decided to take the kids skating on Saturday morning. We invited some friends, and went to lunch after that. I didn't get home until 3:30 at the earliest. I didn't really accomplish anything after that, except laundry, which only added to my list since I had to then fold it and put it away.

I knew I had to make up for lost time on Sunday. So of course, DS gets sick Sunday morning. He vomited in the morning, had a fever and was completely out of it for the rest of the day. My DD went to my mom's for the day, so at least she was out of the house. I was going to spend 30 minutes in each room of the house, and just spruce them up and do whatever needed to be done. (I thought that was a good plan) Instead, I spent hours scrubbing the guest bathroom. DH always makes fun of me and says when I have a lot to do, or feel overwhelmed, I always focus on the wrong thing. He's completely right. The bathroom did not need that much time (though I haven't seen the faucet shine like that in a long time).

Anyhow, in the end, I had to rush through the other rooms and not spend as much time as I had wanted to in them. One thing I did do, was help DD clean her room tonight. I made a big production of showing her the carpet, and explaining that she should *always* be able to see it. Being the smartass she is, she played right along, exclaiming that it was "so pretty and soft". *rolls eyes*

That was pretty much my weekend right there. What did you do this weekend?

Smut questions!

Damnit! MTW took my blog topic! *grin* I'll have to improvise today. I thought it was time for some more smut, so today my questions will be:

1. If you could have sex anywhere, where would it be?
2. Where is the most romantic place you've done it?
3. The most un-romantic place?

Bonus question~

4. Animals in the room: yes or no? (not involved, of course)

Everyone have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend!

OMG!!!

A BANANA!?? *Yay*

Big congratulations to CSTL and Syren! *smooches*
Boys are just the sweetest babies. They are momma's boys when they are little, but then they are also daddy's best friend when they get older. I also love the unique relationship that brothers share (same with sisters). How special for all of you. *sniff* *happy*

Also~ History Detective! How the hell did you know about my dream?? I feel so exposed! Yes, it was Bob Saget. *hangs head in shame* It was Bob's (our chemist) fault really. I was in China, (this is why I blame Bob) and for some reason, so was Bob. We kept hugging and kissing. Yuck.

Oh and umm, at least I didn't dream I was pregnant by him! *smirk*

Dreams

I had an awful nightmare last night. It was about a midget killer. I'm not clear on whether the killer was the midget, or the killer killed midgets, but it was awful. Because my dreams are so weird, I actually knew that this dream was set in the mid 60s in Tennessee. I saw a bloody little stumpy corpse that I believe was a midget (little person?) but it could have just been a mutated body. Anyways, I had a weird feeling all morning after that dream.

I also had a slightly sexual dream a couple weeks ago that involved a "celebrity", but I'm not sure I want to talk about that one just yet.

Have any weird dreams lately?

Fighting

After reading MTW's blog, a couple of the comments, and my own weekend, I can't help but wonder about the way people fight. When you have an argument with a spouse, child, parent, or anyone at all, how ugly can it get? Do you scream? Swear? Throw things? Cry?
I had a fight with DH this weekend, (won't get into details) but I was pretty pissed at him, and he was extremely defensive. I *so* wanted to yell at him, but I was trained early on in my marriage that yelling is not permitted. I can count on one hand how many times I've actually "yelled" at him, (and I don't even need all my fingers) and once was over the phone. He is a loud person naturally and I ask him to lower his voice a lot when we are fighting, but he doesn't actually yell either.
Sometimes I want to fight with him. Just scream and yell and get it all out, but it won't happen, I don't think. We also do not call each other names while we're angry, ever. I've never been incited to the point of throwing anything, or wanting to hit him, strike that, wanting to hit him, maybe, actually doing it? No, not yet. *sigh* Really, we are very boring fighters I guess. My kids on the other hand, they are impressive when they fight. Which reminds me, they have this week off from school for Spring break. Yikes, this should be fun.

Follow up question...

After asking about what everyone's dream jobs would be, it made me wonder about the opposite. Is there one job you could just not do? Something you couldn't or wouldn't do, almost regardless of the pay?

I'm not thinking Fear Factor kind of jobs either (obviously I wouldn't be Spider Whisperer or anything) but real, somewhat normal jobs, that you don't think you're cut out for? I am not sure I could be a waitress. Rude people freak me out, and I assume you come across many of them in such a diverse setting (as a restaurant).

I also could never be a teacher, though when I was younger, that's exactly what I thought I wanted to be. After volunteering for several years at my kids school, I saw firsthand how difficult it was, and I gained a lot of respect for anyone in that field.

Anything to do in the medical field would be too hard for me too. Just grosses me out too much. Same with Senior Nursing. Admirable field, but not for me.
Oh, one more I could never do, Child Protective Services. I think my heart wouldn't be able to take the sadness.

Lastly, even though it's safe to assume I don't have the brain for some of the aforementioned careers, one more job I literally could not do would be that of a CPA. I understand most of them are pretty smart and good with numbers. Some might even say they are total math geeks! *smooches* to any CPA's that might be out there lurking. ;-)

So, what could you not do?

Two more things...

And I doubt many of you can answer this for me, but I am curious. Why do mens underwear have the opening in the front? It's so they can pee, right? And if so, why do they need it? Is it too hard to pull their shorts (briefs, whatever) down? They already just get to stand there. They can't bother to pull their underwear down just a little? And do you think they use those little openings for anything else? Just curious. My DH won't discuss it with me. *rolls eyes*

Other thing; I was washing our George Foreman grill today and as I was standing at the sink doing it, I saw the hugest, blackest spider *EVER* running by my feet! It was so big that I thought it might be a mouse at first (I would have preferred that) but it was so black, I knew it wasn't. It was HUGE! I was wearing my tennis shoes, thank goodness. My heart jumped into my throat, then back down to the pit of my stomach. I wasn't sure whether to scream or just die as quickly as possible, to put myself out of my misery. This all took place in a matter of seconds, BTW. I decided to reassess as quickly as possible before making my decision. As I looked down to see where it had gone, I noticed it was swinging on the end of the cord attached to the grill. *sheepish grin* Damn plug.

Two things...

One, cold pizza! OMG! I just discovered it. All these years I have turned my nose up at it and now I discover that it is wonderful! What was wrong with me? And now, we hardly ever order pizza anymore so I will rarely get to have it. But damn! It's so freakin' good.

Two, if you could be anything that you wanted to be, any profession at all, and money didn't matter, what would you be? Is there more than one ideal job for you? How about one you'd like to do that pays well, and another that doesn't pay well but you think you'd enjoy?

For me, I'd love to go into real estate. I might be going for my license soon, and though I know it's a competitive market, I think there is potential for good money.
For my non-paying job that I'd like, I would love to be a cryptozoologist. It's the study of "hidden" animals. I could go on expeditions with tons of hot guys (in my fantasy version) and travel to lots of exotic locations. And I'd be famous for proving the existence of sea monsters and Bigfoot!

Edited to add~ I very much resent the implication that *I* may have done something to break RTVW. I hope this problem is gone by the time I get up in the morning!

Weekend Update

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Ours started with Friday night Bingo at the kids school. DS won twice and we got a 4 in 1 sports pack thing and a pedestal cake platter thing. The kids had a good time.
Saturday I got to see some friends I hadn't seen in a while, including one girl who I hadn't seen in 11 years. It was nice. Later I went to the store for my mom and bought her a cake to serve for her company that night, and I made a complete fool of myself, IMO. You know how the cakes are behind the display and you have to ask the bakery people to get them out? Well, that's what I did. Then, after he gave me the cake, he asked if I wanted anything else, so I thought maybe my kids would want a cookie and I pointed to the display case next to the cakes and said "yes, can I have one dinosaur cookie and one ice cream cone cookie?" He looked at me for a moment and said "sure". Then he walked all the way around the bakery counter and through the double doors on the side, over to where I was standing, where he proceeded to slide the self serve doors open. *utter embarrassment* I apologized, he laughed and that was that, but I was so red until I was in my car, on the way back to my mom's.
Later that night, I went with my brother to his friends house and we hung out and had a wild party (watching the Kid's Choice Awards with 4 small children). I'll be going back next weekend when they are actually going to have a real party.

Last night I went to dinner with DH. We went to the Cheesecake Factory. *waves to Augie*
I'll tell you what, it's a complete shame to me that they over-serve everyone there. It is humanly impossible to eat everything they give you and I think it's sad how much food ends up in the garbage. They have a new chocolate coconut *waves to Coco* cheesecake that they are trying out right now. It's not on the menu yet but it will be if everyone likes it. If you ever go there, and you like coconut, you *have* to try it. The bottom crust is like a Macaroon cookie. I still have over half of it left and might have it this morning with my coffee. *yum*
