I got a speeding ticket on Saturday night. It was my first one ever. I was so shocked to get pulled over, that speeding never even occurred to me. I had to *ask* what I had done wrong. Apparently, 88mph was the answer. *pout* I never speed. At least not like that. I had only sped up to try to catch up with my brother, who I was trying to follow. I had already slowed to a reasonable speed again when I noticed the lights behind me.
I was horrified for the cop to see me, because a) I had a tiny bit to drink earlier in the evening (I knew I was completely sober, but had he asked if I had been drinking, I would have had to say "yes" which might have led to having to walk the straight line, and all that) and b) I had a noticeably dirty shirt on, and felt really icky. Which leads me to my question. How does one get candle wax out of a shirt? It's a polyester and spandex blend, black, lace halter top kinda shirt. The wax is a light color. Without spelling it out, guess what it kinda looked like? *mortified*

I've had two. They suck. Especially because the first one was in a mass speed trap situation (about 10 squads pulling just about everyone over.) I was NOT speeding but I didn't feel like disputing it at court so I just paid.
You know, MM, wearing a black lace spandex halter top can sometimes get you out of tickets if you flirt your cards just right. Of course you had that nasty substance on your shirt so that might nave squirreled a flirting-based exemption.
I have no idea how to get wax out of stuff. I think you're supposed to freeze & scrape it, then iron out what's left between paper towels. IMO it's easier to just buy a new shirt.
Heh. I won't go into how many tickets I have had.
As for the wax? You'll just need to buy a new shirt. :)
I'm sorry, MM. That's the worst feeling. I have had about 6 in my life, not to mention the number of times I've been pulled over & NOT gotten a ticket. I'd like to point out that I've been ticket free for about 6 years, though!
As for the candle wax, you can try a craft/fabric store. I found wax remover in a little clear bottle there. It was for my carpet, though. Worked like a charm. Or, you can always try the hot iron/paper towel method. Might still leave a stain on the shirt though.
I can't believe nobody has asked how you got candle wax on your shirt.

I would have written about that, if I were going to share it.
*coy smile*
And besides, candle wax accidents are pretty common. I think you just let your imagination run away with you.

For wax removal:
-freeze it and scrape any excess you can with your fingernail.
-any residue left in the fabric should be ironed out with a paper towel on each side of the fabric.
- repeat as necessary.
What Nutzy said.
Yay! Finally I have some company.

I've had more than two speeding tickets. But less than Carey. Just guessing. *grin*
The last time I was pulled over in a RIDE program I had had 2 drinks over about 6 hours. When the officer asked if I'd been drinking I said no. It may have helped that Holly was trying to lick the cop so he didn't stick his head too far in the window.

One of the many times that I was pulled over for a ticket, I was wearing my tap dance costume.
