I'm looking forward to both American Idol and Beauty and the Geek. DH thinks I'm an idiot for watching these shows. Any other idiots out there? *waits*

I have a question for everyone; what are your eating arrangements? Do you eat at the table, or in the living room? Do you read while you eat? I have to be honest, if I'm not talking to someone, I cannot eat without also reading something. Can't do it. And I'll read anything, if nothing better is available. Eating by itself bores me to death. I've read it's really bad to do that though. What do you think? What is your / your family's eating style? (*snort* I wonder if I read it was bad to do that *while* I was eating?)

I thought of you this weekend. I was walking in to my kitchen and I saw a spider on the wall. I was feeling lazy and didn't want to pick it up right then, so I left it and forgot about it. The next morning, it was still there, in the exact same spot. I figured it was either the worlds most well-behaved spider or it was dead. I still didn't pick it up though (it was behind my computer desk and I didn't feel like moving all the stuff to get to him). And then later in the day I noticed he was gone. Heh. I thought of how bad you would be freaking out. *grin*
I'm thinking about watching AI this year. I never have before, except flipping on commercials. I loved the first season of Beauty and The Geek, so I'll probably be watching that, too.
I eat sitting on my couch, using the coffee table as a table. I watch tv while I'm eating. I don't really have room in my apartment for a dining room table. Since I have my laptop now, I might get rid of my computer desk and then I would have room for a small one.
When do B&TG and AI start? I haven't been watching tv lately, so I've missed the commercials.
We eat at our kitchen counter on stools. Chris brings the remote to the table, which drives me CRAZY. He takes twice the amount of time to eat because he's watching tv during meal.
Arachnaphobes are funny people. Just remember that you are bigger than the spider and thus quite likely to win any contests of strength.
I have never watched AI or B&TG. I may try B&TG though - I meant to watch it last time. When/where is it on?
Eating style was an issue with Tom and I for a long time. He was the eldest boy in a family of 8 kids so he was bumped from the family table at a fairly young age and ate on the sofa or wherever he wound up, with his plate balanced on his lap. This is normal to him.
I was raised to eat every single meal at a table and to converse while doing so.
The first year or 3 after we were married I always set the table for dinner and we always ate at table. Then when we had our 2 back-to-back kids, with all the chaos that involves at meal time, the family dinner kind of went to heck and never came back.
Now we mostly eat in the family room, with plates balanced on our laps. We do get to look out at a lovely view, and sometimes but not usually we watch TV.
Tom is not home for dinner usually once or twice a week, plus even when he is coming home the timing is very erratic - between 6 and 8 - so planning & cooking becomes problematic. Sometimes I eat before he gets there.
The meal we are most likely to sit at table and eat together is Sunday breakfast. We sit at the little conference table in the office.
Oooh, I want to watch Beauty and the Geek. I alwaya forget about that show. Let me know when it's on!
PS - Check your PM's please.
I think B&TG starts tomorrow guys. I'm not sure about AI.
I've watched AI since the beginning. I enjoy it.
As far as the eating arrangements, I eat in the living room and watch TV. It seems too lonely to sit at the table by myself. But it doesn't bother me to eat out by myself. Seems like it would either bother me both ways, or neither. Oh well.
*shudder* I feel for you. I'm currently on lizard watch. I came home from my trip and noticed one of the bathroom mats all bunched up. I lifted it up to straighten it out and there was a dead lizard under it. Of course I screamed. Cats must have mussed up the mat trying to get to the lizard. I won't tell you about my horrifying battle with a live lizard while DH was out of town a few weeks ago. *shudders*
I'm looking forward to AI and I'll try to watch B&TG. I watched the first one and sort of lost interest in the 2nd one. If it's not competing with something else I'm watching, then I'll give it another try.
We no longer have a dining room so we eat dinner in the breakfast nook in the kitchen.
Like Swami, I've always wanted dinner to be a time to sit at the table and talk. Never worked. DH always brings the remote control with him so I just end up bringing a magazine with me to read.
Whenever we have guests visiting, I insist the tv be turned off. I usually put on some classical music for background noise.
When DH is out of town, I'll usually just eat my dinner in the living room. Either on my lap or on the coffee table.
Happy New Year MM!
I'm with Jen, I ignore spiders unless they are hairy - then they die.
Funny you should mention Beauty and the Geek. I've never watched it but happend to catch the marathon of season 2 yesterday and watched the entire season in, oh my cod, 8 hours probably. I watched TV for 8 straight hours - well I did laundry, hung a shelf, swept a couple of rooms, fixed dinner, ate - etc. during it. I enjoyed it and will probably record it.
I like to eat on the couch - my Dbf likes to eat at the table. I eat with lightening speed. At a resturant I want to leave quickly when I'm done but everyone else is still eating. That's when I play my games on my cell phone.
Just here to say helllooooooo. *whistles innocently*
Ack!
*gigglefits*
We eat in various places - the stools in the kitchen, the kitchen table (rarely), in the living room...it all depends on my mood and what's going on. And who's here (kids or no).
Beauty and the Geek starts Wednesday, Jan. 3. It's a 2 hour season premiere. I watch it, but I usually don't watch American Idol until it gets to the final 10.
