Well, I started my update about my weekend, but one, I couldn't get the damn pics to load, and two, my spell check wouldn't even work. I hate computers. I did a system restore recently and ever since then, it hasn't worked right. *sigh*
So instead of my fascinating weekend update, how about I ask a couple questions that have been on my mind?
1. How normal is it to have a crush on someone for years, and then have it fall to peices when you finally spend just a little time with them, and realize they are a freakin' human after all? *sigh*
2. How normal is it to be 30 years old, and feel too petrified to leave the guest room where you are staying, because you know you are in trouble for getting home late, the night before?
3. How normal is it to make your children get out of the river they are playing in, because you are pretty sure an alligator could be in there, and ready to snap up one of the kids?
4. Who here can go on amusement park rides and not get sick? I can do the Ferris Wheel, but not the Tidal Wave/ Magic Carpet thing. *puke*
5. Who here has ever had an Indian Taco? Do you generally like carnival type food?
6. If you're going to send someone a gift certificate, do you *personally* feel as though there is some minimum that should be given, or is any old amount acceptable/"normal"?

6. For a gift certificate, I always feel like it needs to be at least $20. I don't mind giving someone a gift that costs less than $20, but I feel cheap if I give them a gift certificate for less.

I think it's very normal. That's part of why the crush/fantasy lasts so long - because you don't really know them.

Guest room at home or parents' house?

Substitute alligator for snake, or shark at the beach, and you've got me.

No. Is that anything like octopus or paella or tamales? I like carni food, especially cheesesteaks.

I think it depends on the situation and who the person is.
1. Normal. I have done that. Put somebody on a pedastel (sp) just to have them fall after spending a little time with them.

1. I think that's normal. Some of the best crushes are based totally on fantasy. You can make the person anything you want them to be. It sucks when the fantasy is blown. :( (heheh I said 'sucks' and 'blown' heheh.)

6. It depends on the store you are buying the gift card from. If it's an expensive store, I wouldn't buy a gift card for $20 because they probably couldn't find anything for that. If it's like Target or something, $20 would be ok. It depends on how much you want to spend on the person, too.

I hate simulator rides - you know, where you sit in a darkened room and they shake your seat & pretend you are shooting through space or something. I like rides where you really, actually move through space!

OK, to elaborate on the getting in trouble for being out late thing;
I was staying at my aunt and uncle's house, where I've stayed since I was a kid, and I was the last one home that night. I was out until 2am, and my aunt not only had my DD ask my DH to call me, she also waited up for me. I waited in the car until she got the hint that I didn't want to see anyone, and went upstairs. In the morning, I stayed in the guestroom until noon, to avoid being asked questions. In the end, I had to face her (and my parents) because they wouldn't leave the damn house.
I was questioned about my whereabouts, and had to come up with a half-truth, in order to appease them without coming off as a total liar. It was awful. When my mom asked "where were you young lady?" I told her I wouldn't answer her if she was going to talk to me like I was 12. LOL. Anyways, I hate being an adult, but surrounded by people who make me feel like a child.
Oh, and the river thing was here in Northern California, so I know there should not be any alligators, but couldn't someone let one loose in the river, just to be cruel? There are all kinds of freaky things that could be in that water. *shudder*
Indian taco; Weltek got it! Yes, I have one every year, at the fair. I've never seen them anywhere else, though I'm sure they sell them at other carnivals too.
As for the gift card, I KNOW it's the thought that counts, but I was curious as to whether I would be the only one who thought it was weird when my MIL sent my younger brother a Target gift card (for his new baby) for $10. What can you buy for $10? Diapers, maybe? Ok, I feel all snobby and rude now.

Hey! I've heard a story about someone letting an alligator go in the American River (or something like that, could have been a salamander) and the thought has stayed with me. I didn't say it before, but frankly, even fresh water sharks could be living in the waters. *sticks tongue out at Jen*
As for my whereabouts, well... *smile* Let's just say that I was somewhere I shouldn't have been, with someone my family doesn't approve of, doing something that was perfectly harmless.

Yay Nutz! Cedar Point is the bestest. I haven't been in several years because I had a season pass one year and totally got sick of all the rides. LOL. But I am really, really looking forward to making my triumphant return next summer. :D
